o/u for me, my kid and trap
« on: October 12, 2014, 11:39:43 AM »
My 12-y/o is getting pretty good with my mossy pump and has outgrown youth SA which is going to his younger brothers--he wants o/u now for xmas, he held a Redhead at LGS and liked it a lot (gotta break in the break though huh, super stiff) and I'm not feeling ready to shell out for B's.  Canvasback (Gold?), Redhead Deluxe, or worth more for more specialized CZ's?  Appreciate your thoughts.

CZ O/U for trap?

Sporter adjustable rib would be my first choice.

Redhead Target would be second.

They make a semi auto 712 Trap also.

All 3 will shoot high so you can see the clay get smoked.

Yep.

Another option might be a canvasback (not gold), and one of the beartooth comb raising kits.  Look around and you might get away for less than 700 total.

It will hold up well and give him the opportunity to grow into it and learn what features he wants (ejectors v extractors, comb height, etc.)

I know lots of folks that wind up spending too much on their first gun to learn they want something different.
