Sp01 accu-shadow sights question
« on: October 14, 2014, 05:17:56 PM »
Probably will need to contact CZC directly but thought I would put this out here also/first.  A friend recently purchased a brand new accu-shadow on gun broker and when range testing it the other day we find that it shoots high for both of us.  (he is a USPSA master class shooter,I am not).  I currently has the fixed rear sight so no room for height adjustment there.  So thinking ahead if a new sight is needed it will either need to be a lower rear sight or a higher front sight.  He is thinking a changing out to the fully adjustable rear sight from CZC but we are curious if it will adjust lower than the stock fixed sight.  Not much sense in adding an adjustable sight if it will not lower the impact point.  A higher front sight would be more cost effective in that case.  Looking for thoughts and information please.  I also have an accu-shadow on order for myself and after shooting his I am definately having waiting pains..............

What ammo/bullet weight and what distance are you all shooting at?

124 gr bullet amd shooting at both 25 yds and 25 feet.  Both distances are used in USPA shooting.  Trying to understand why the bullet weight and distance matter to the question.  I do understand that when sighted in for a given distance that a bullet will shoot higher leaving the gun, reach a point and then start to drop.  The problem is I want to have the same sight picture at a given distance regardless of what I chose for this gun and any other gun I want to shoot.  I need to be able to adjust the sights to do this.  Unless I am completely off base.

Guns are sighted in for 10 yards with 115grn ammo ( S&B, Fiochi, etc )
so a heavier bullet ( 147 ) can shoot high.

generally for my personal guns I sight in for 15 yards with a 124 gr bullet as that is what I shoot. and from there I mark off and shoot groups at 50, 35, 25, 15 , 10 and 7 to determine where I am hitting.

Stuart, I understand that and agree with the shooting high what I really want to know is how I can best adjust the sight picture so that it does not shoot high without changing how I am used to aligning the front/rear sights and how they align on the target.  My 2011 and my M & P both have a sight picture that when I aim at the center of the "A" zone with the top of the front sight even with the top of the rear sight I hit the center of the "A" zone.  I would like to maintain this sight alignment and not have to aim 3" inches lower to hit the center of the "A" zone with the CZ.  I will bet that Angus does not have a six oclock hold with one gun and a 12 oclock hold with another or aim 3" inches low with one gun and 2" inches high with another of his guns when he competes.  The goal I am looking for is to be able to change the sights so that all my guns shoot the same.  My question is how to do this.  Ideally it would be to go to a fully adjustable rear sight (my preference) but this will not work if the adjustable rear sight sold by CZC for the SP01 is not lower than the fixed rear sight that came on the Accu-shadow.  If it is not lower than the best way is to go with a taller front sight

Is the Hajo already bottomed out? so you cant lower impact.
if so, then go to taller front sight.

7.5mm high is std on ACCU pistol

Rumblebee, if you can measure how high the bottom of the rear notch is above the slide, perhaps Stuart or someone else can measure the lowest setting of the adjustable sight.

Rumblebee. I think I know which Accu-Shadow you're refering to. Did you get it from Rocke Guns from Arizona. I think they were built as special order for them with fixed competition rear sights and trigger guard undercuts. It might help Stuart to figure out what sights are on it

That pistol is the CZC ACCU.
Competition fixed rear with 6.5mm tall front X .125 wide X 1.0mm FO rod

There is a 7mm, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5 and 9.5 tall sight available.

yes, it is one of the ones from Rocke Guns Stuart.  I did   not realize they had made a special order of those.  So would the HAJO rear be lower than the fixed or should I go with the taller upper or both.  Sorry for being such a pain.

I am sorry for resurecting this thread, but the gun in this thread is the same one I have. I am looking at ordering a HAJO rear sight from czcustom but need some clarification first.

The front sight needed according to Czcustom is 7.5mm. Is that still recommended for this gun ( I also ordered mine from gunbroker and it was sold from rocke guns)

Do I need to get both a new front and rear or do I only need the HAJO rear?

Thank you for your time.
