I think it's just supply and demand. Manufactures and importers have turned up production to meet USA demand and in the last year the glut of entry level firearms has led to competive price drops. Across the board, from 1911 to polymer, quality handguns can be purchased in the $300 to $400 range. This drives prices down for any gun in the range unless they are a real collectible piece or a niche product line. The 83 is a niche item: old school design, larger & heavy for its class, and considered under powered by today's standard. So your market is a small group of buyers and you are correct Gunbroker is the way to find them, but how many of them don't already have one or are just looking for a deal? I just passed on a 82 for $250. I think in a year they will be back to thier import price of around $200. I bought a like new in the box Canik S-120 w/ 3 mags & holster that someone needed to sell for $250.
