CZ 527M + 7.62x39 Ammo Rollers: What is Your Final Answer?
« on: November 09, 2014, 10:02:30 PM »
Greetings fellow rollers,

I've been researching this topic for some time now and I've seen several different answers to this question, but now I'm confused along with still being unsure as to whether or not I can roll for this rifle (just bought one last month). :-\

So, could someone please tell me, unequivocally, that I can, in fact, roll x39 ammo for this rilfe with no problems?  I've acquired a bunch of Bulgarian brass (10/13 head stamp) and 123gr FMJ .311 bullets that I'm itching to send through some paper, so inquiring minds want to know.  I haven't even fired my 527 yet because I've been wanting to roll the first rounds I put through it.

Thanks much.

If your question is can you reload brass cased ammunition for your CZ 527 rifle chambered in 7.62x39...then the answer is yes.

That's good to hear. Now, is there any brass, bullets, recipes or other things I should worry about when rolling for this rifle?  For example, I've read that I should use .311 bullets for this rifle.

Yes, as JLJ says, you definitely cal load your own ammo for this rifle. .311 diameter projectiles are what is called for, and AA-1680 is a great powder. I use it under 123 and 150 grain  Hornady and Sierra bullets with great success. I have shot a 3/8" 3-shot group at 100 yards with it. I can't remember the recipe, but you'll be able to come up with some accurate ammo with that combination.

Good grief, I don't remember the last time I shot factory ammo in my 527M! I not only "roll my own", I also cast for it - it loves the NOE 129 grain pill, works very well. I agree, Accurate Arms #1680 is a great powder, and H-335 also works well. H4898 worked the best with the Berry's 125 grain plated bullet for me. That's a good plinking bullet. MidwayUSA carries a variety of bullets, and the Hornady 123 grain .310 diameter spire point works for me as a general purpose hunting bullet...not that I've TAKEN anything with it yet, but when i get around to it...
Brass might be the hardest thing to find - I hoard mine, and hate it when one gets too worn out, but I have some that have so many ejector marks on the case head that it's hard to count them. Cast loads will lengthen that life span a lot. ;)
