2014 CZ-75 SP-01 Shadow Custom
« on: December 14, 2014, 04:51:38 PM »
Thanks Stuart!  Picked it up earlier in the week from my FFL and its everything I was hoping for.  Put 200 rnds thru it on Friday and another 100 on Saturday.  We're still getting acquainted but so far we be vibin'!  Have a USPSA match this coming weekend for its debut.

Out of the box the paperwork said the trigger is set to 7.5 lbs DA and 3 lbs SA.  DA is pretty smooth and SA is very crisp with about 1/16" of pre-travel.  I've probably dry-fired it in DA mode over 1,000 times already and I can feel the trigger getting smoother by the day.  I'll throw a trigger gauge on it when I hit the first 1K rnds fired.

I ordered it back in Sept and that was bad timing on my part since the CZC guys were busy getting ready for the 2014 IPSC World Shoot (guns and themselves), so a little longer than the quoted 8 weeks for custom work but I wasn't worried since that gave me time to get acquainted with the CZ75 Shadow I got while waiting.

Thanks again CZC, love your work.

Another shot.  Stoeger BOSS hanger with a Center of Mass kydex holster, Ghost 360 mag pouches, and Shockbottle basepads on 3 of the nickle plated CZ mags.  Everything works in dry-fire and live-fire, soon we'll see how it runs in match-fire.

Very nice. Looks like you got the adjustable rear instead of the fixed, how do you like it?

Thanks guys.

I like the sight picture and convenience of the LPA adjustable rear as its the same style I have on all my 1911/2011 comp guns.  I specifically wanted an adjustable sight because in the great ammo shortage of 2009, 2013, 2014... ensuring a constant supply of the same reloading components can be a little challenging.  Different bullets and bullet weight as well as powders can result in different POI hence the adjustable sights vs getting a hammer out to drift the rear sight or guessing which height front sight you need to fix an elevation problem.

Added to which I may start flying to major matches this year or the next in which case ordering Atlanta Arms or match ammo to be delivered to the match may prove to be more convenient than shipping my own to the match.  Be nice to be able to fine tune the POA/POI with only a screw driver.  Plus CZC does a slick job milling the LPA cut into the slide to get it as close to the bore as possible.

Awesome! Great pics. Now i want a gun belt, but i do not compete. Bah! ill just have to wear it at home. Maybe i could put tools in the mag pouches and quick draw spring changes. ;D

Gratz on a great looking new CZ 2morechains! May it treat you well!
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I suppose the other option is the HAJO rear sight that CZC offers.  Its adjustable for elevation but not windage (at least without tools).  I considered it, but ultimately went with the LPA since I'm more familiar with them.

Oh it is!  Been dry-firing like a mad man getting used to the DA trigger.  9mm recoil in a 38 oz gun is pretty awesome.  I really like the ergos, it points really well for me, and the extra 2-ish oz of the SP-01 FLDC is in the right spot to keep the gun flat as possible during recoil.

So why not compete?  Its the most fun I've had with my clothes on!

My 75 Shadow has the HAJO rear from when they were fairly new to CZC.  There were some growing pains with the adjustment screw,  but CZC/Stuart replaced the screw and pin very fast.  Another pin broke,  so a made one out of drill rod.
I like the HAJO a lot.  It is virtually Identical to the Comp. Rear,  except for riding just a skosh higher.  I prefer the bigger blade for comp./range use.

Congratulations. You have got yourself a winner. And a mean looking rig too.

Are these adjustable rear sights meant for the SP01 Shadow or is the slide milled for them to fit?
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull

The slide is milled for the Shadow adjustable sights. They fit really low in the slide, pretty awesome.

I was under the impression milling the slide excluded you from production divisions...although I am newish, so I could be wrong. What discipline/class are you shooting OP?

I think you're thinking of IDPA's SSP division ruling which prohibits the milling of the slide for after-market sights of a different style.  This gun is not IDPA SSP legal, which also makes it not legal for ESP -all because of the rear sight.

I am shooting USPSA Production Division with the 2014 CZ SP-01.  Per App D4, line 21.2b:  Milling of slide -only as required to insert sights.  A slide may be modified specifically for the purpose of installing sights, and for no other purpose.

Thanks.  It has the same rear sight as the Shadow-Target.  Slide has to be cut for the LPA dovetail.
