CZ Plastic buffer use in an SP-01??
« on: May 30, 2006, 11:50:34 AM »
I have many of the plastic buffers for the CZ Standard IPSC and the TS .40 cal - I found out that they also fit my SP-01 so I have been using them. No difference in shooting sensation that I can tell.

Anyone else use them? Any advantage/disadvantage??

Why add something that's not required or part of the gun in the first place?  Isn't it an additional part that could cause a failure?

I agree with you.

The buffer I installed on my SP-01 comes from the bag of buffers supplied with the two CZ-75s I own - the model of the CZ-75s I have are:

"CZ 75 Standard IPSC" - it says so on the slide.

I own two of them. Both have a "created" date of: "00" - meaning 2000. One came WITH the buffers & the slide cut out, the other did not.

Question: since one of the "00" marked Standard IPSC guns did not have the buffer update, does that mean that the other, identical Standard IPSC does not need it or could not benefit from it?

Thanks for the reply, but I do not think your question answers my original question (from my first post). Anyone else?

Regards,

I do not use a buffer to tame the mighty whack of the 9mm. :D

I know what you mean; even with the buffer, its really hard to take much of the 147/ N-310 load (probably on par with 147/Clays).  I had better call Steve Moneypenny & Bob King about some of their 180 grn 9mm Minor loads! (ha ha). Everyone's a joker these days; maybe I'll try some back-to-back testing w/ and w/o it (and no, I don't plan to share my results). :rollin

I have seen buffers cause more problems by taking that small amount of travel from the slide thus short stroking the action.  Also the gun was designed to run a minimum of 75,000 rounds and most will out live the shooter, they do not need to be buffered.  The 9mm in a full sized gun will not get close to stressing a frame and slide.

75K?

Is that based on factory ammo?

I've already run 2k through mine and have only had 9mm dies one month.

Buffer deleted. Going back to 147s for A7. See you all at the range on Friday.
