Grip Choice Dilemma
« on: January 14, 2015, 10:55:45 AM »
The CZ is a great handgun, but there is just TOO MUCH black on it. I really need to liven it up. My dilemma is that I really like the factory rubber grips, and feel no need to go with a thinner aluminum panel (plus, I really dislike grip tape). In short...I want blue...it matches my rig setup. ;D

I found what I want, but apparently they are no longer manufactured:

That leaves me with the Hogue and CZ aluminums:

Unfortunately I'm not really sure I like the idea of aluminum grips. I just can't get past the thought that I'd be holding a cheese grater.  ???

What to do, what to do??

I have the bottom grips in silver. I initially thought that I wouldn't like it, but once I got to the range, the feel was amazing. It helped me control the gun better. Now, I'm looking for another one in red.

Do you know how to use a dremel, sand paper, and wood stain?

Grips4u.com (I think) and then mold the grips to your satisfaction. You can also try eBay, those wood grips are hit and miss from what I read.
snakeye, no worries, I don't need someone in a leotard. :)

Why not just buy a blue purse and keep the stock grips if you like them?   ;)

But what do I know, I use grip tape on all my competition guns.

Like yourself I didn't want to make the grip too slim...The THICK aggressive CZC alum grips have worked excellent!
I purchased these to use with gloves but actually they are not bad barehanded. A couple hundred rounds and hands felt fine. I experience an amazingly solid non-slip grip on the pistol.

The aggressive checker feels surprisingly good and doesn't hurt my hands at all. The thick is still thinner than the stock rubber grips.

While I don't have aftermarket grips on my CZ (as of yet...) - I do have various Hogue grips in many of my different guns. They are, without a doubt, some of the finest options there are. Particularly, their aluminum offerings. I own many different Beretta 92 models, and have swapped out the factory grips with the Hogue metals ones, in every single case. The fit / finish is even better than factory (if you can believe that) but just as important, they feel 100x better in-hand. Just extraordinary grip.

Check out all the Hogue G10 grips available for the CZ75's, very impressive.

I found the grips you are looking for. Pricey, though.
It might be worth it to you.
PBA Imports. 1901-BLUE.
I have that bottom picture, but in red. I think they really look nice, and are not at all like a cheese grater. Actually, I would have liked them a bit rougher.
I think I saw your "want to buy" post over at B.E. If those people can't come up with them, I don't know who would. Maybe just bite the bullet, and order them. If you want to sell them later, I think you would not loose too much money selling them, as they are so rare.

I toyed with the idea of a colored set of grips, but  in the end wondered if I would tire of it at some point. Personal feeling, of course. I went the black aggressive checkered route from the CZ Custom Shop as well, and cannot recommend them highly enough. Everything said here is pretty spot-on. I have mostly black aluminum grips on my other pistols (mostly Sigs), and really like all of them. They're either OEM or manufactured by Hogue. Thin, grip well, feel good, look good. What's not to like?
