Price check
« on: March 23, 2006, 09:49:45 PM »
Hi all. I'm new to THIS board, but I've been reading it for some time now. I am looking to buy SP-01.My local retailer say he can get one for me,but dosen't know how long the wait will be.Also the price is 599.00. I've seen the CZ web page and the price is almost the same. I bought a P-01 from the same place for 509.00(out the door). Is it common for the SP-01to be 90.00 more than a P-01?

I paid 440.00 for my Tactical with night sights.  I've never paid more then 410.00 for any CZ I've bought except for my 75B IPSC.  Of course I live in CZ alley, I still wouldn't pay more then 525.00-550.00

 Regards Sonny

$599 is about $50-$100 too high.

I paid $499 for a MS SP-01 a few weeks ago in FL.

I called my retailer today when I got home from work just to double check the price he quoted me yesterday. It turns out 599.00 is just the price for the gun !! Throw in tax(8.25%),dros,(30.00). I'd really love to own one of those beauties ,but what the hell !! I can't nor won't give up 700.00 for it. He said its a relatively new gun so he has to sell at right around MSRP. I'll either have to wait ,OR just go ahead and get a compact .40 instead. Bummer   Jim

Your quoted price is high.

You may be able to find an SP-01 through several CZForum members.

Here's a link to Omega8Omega (a.k.a. Sam of CZGrips) current ad for SP-01:

Also, check with Manosteele69 (a.k.a. Jason) in the CZ Classified section.  Here's a link to one of Jason's ad listings, drop him a personal message:

You shouldn't need to pay full MSRP plus all of the other "out-of-the-door" fees.

Good Luck in your quest for a SP-01!  :D

Thanks for the input guys. I know there are a few other options I could pursue. As a matter of fact I'm currently waiting for a set of grips from Omega. The thing is,I live in Ca.,probably the worst state there is for gun regulations. First, I'd have to find a FFL holder and pay them to recieve it,(60.00 to 80.00)then I'd still have to pay the dros, and almost certainly there will be some other "unknown cost",that would passed on to me. Not to forget the 10 day waiting period. Its about the same any way you cut it. But, thanks anyway guys. I appreciate the help. I'll just wait and see what happens.        Jim

You should be able to easily find an FFL in CA that will handle the transfer for $60-$70, including the DROS fee.  Even if you buy at a gun shop, you will still have to pay the DROS fee and state tax.  Shipping will run ~$25.  The break even point is about $550. If you can find an SP-01 locally for approx. $550, go for it.  When the local prices start getting higher than that, start looking on the web for a better deal out of the state.
When you start looking at more expensive guns, buying online produces some big savings.

Well , it took some time and a bit of footwork but I did find one for 550$ (less tax and dros). I bought it,and I pick it up in a week from this Sat. I could'nt find a local (L.A. City)Dealer in the yellow pages that would even recieve it. I looked outside city limits within reasonable driving distance and all I got was "yeah, we can do it, for a fee".It turns out that their fee ranged from 100~120$ (+ tax & dros) !! I was ready to just wait until the price came down. Then I saw a post here and went to gunbroker.com. There I found an FFL dealer within 10 miles from me who was happy to order one for me!!   I'm happy, the FFL guy is happy, and I got it for 65$ less than if I had used my local gun store! Lets see....65$ for ammo ,OR maybe a nice holster....Hmmmmm.  Anyway,Thanks, to all who kinda pointed me in the right direction!               Jim:D
