New here with a Scorpion on the way!
« on: January 20, 2015, 12:14:34 PM »
Hello guys. Long time HK fan and big on Hkpro. Have wanted one of these since I first saw one. Have a question. I just got the sling from the CZ website in today. Don't have the gun yet but I'm already confused on how this works. Does anyone know how exactly to use the "shoulder strap" sling off the CZ website? Pictures help. Thanks and glad to be here!

I haven't gotten one yet myself, so I would have to, sorry, don't know. However, if you watch for the videos coming out of SHOT I'll bet someone visits the CZ booth to see the new EVO at least five or six times. :)

Yup, "no instructions" come with that sling on CZ-USA sale page.  Wonder why?

What do you think of quality of its construction?

Quality is pretty good. Seems tough with good threading on the webbing.

I plan on one too but to SBR it, so I'll be needing the stock and am only interested in the 30 round mags. A big distributor mentioned today that they will be getting many in this or next week and their supplier is also a surprise. Not who you think would be importing these. I was asked not to divulge this (sorry) since they will be sending one my way at that point.
Fordemti, did you ever get that SD sold off? I too am in to the HK platforms in a big way. USP on HKpro.

I love the old ones!  My only complaint with them is .32acp.

The biggest the older Skorpions get to is 9mmMak, IIRC. But the little squirt gun wasn't designed for a bigger caliber. Cute little sucker, isn't it?

.32 ACP, yeah not really a power house but the extra ordinary thing about these little gems are that they are so easy to bump fire you can squeeze off 4-8-10 rounds or an entire mag with total control. The cyclic rate is quite high so about 3 is the least I can get but recoil is zero so with the red dot and being an SBR (shoulder able) you can dump a mag into a paper plate easily at 30M and mine has the weight and retarder in it as well.  The weight and retarder are really made to work in the select fire ones but I think it does balance it out a lot when bumping it. It is also my 12 year old daughter's favorite. Perfect size for her..

The Czechs also developed the SA 23-26 series after WW2 off which the Israelis developed the Uzi.  It was chambered in 9mm Luger then the 7.62?25mm Tokarev once the Soviets insisted, and this preceded the vz61 Scorpion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa_vz._23
(Bear in mind this was used in conjunction with vz52 rifle and its 7.62x45 cartridge.  And this also was preceded by the VZ38 [think a Suomi in looks] and that was chambered in .380 ACP.  In between the VZ38 and SA23-26, the CZ 247 was developed largely by revising the VZ38 but in 9mm Luger exclusively though this was never adopted by the Czechs -- many were exported to Africa and Central/South America [likely a weapon for Soviet allies in various proxy wars]).

It looks like once the VZ58 was developed (and straddling/able to better fulfill both assault/battle rifle and submachine gun roles -- the VZ58 replaced the VZ52 which was more of a traditional full size battle/service rifle) is roughly when the vz61 Scorpion in the smaller 32 ACP cartridge came about, and 32ACP seems to have matched the cartridge used by the state police and internal security forces sidearms/cz pistols of the era...  Once 9mm Makarov was mandated as standard issue for the soviets (and presumably replace state police/security sidearms then too), the Scorpion was developed and offered in 9mm Makarov as well...

According to wikipedia, there is/was a 9mm luger version of the vz61 that was developed for the civilian market in the 90s...
Czech small arms has 9mm Makarov, .380 ACP and .32 ACP on their site.  Looks like Czechpoint stocks all 3 as well.
