Sticky Hammer/Action
« on: February 13, 2015, 08:23:25 PM »
Hello,

First post on the forum and hope I can be a helpful member of the community.

I've been searching for some info on a problem with my CZ82 but haven't found it.

My CZ82 appears to be in great shape (hand select) and has never malfunctioned while shooting.  However the other day I was dry fire training with snap caps and the gun developed a problem.  If you place your thumb on the hammer and pull the trigger to perform a manual decock the hammer just stays in place.  If you push it forward a bit it will then fall.

The single action trigger feels completely normal, but the pull on the double action is stiffer than before this issue cropped up.

Any ideas on why my hammer might be acting this way?

Thanks a ton

Keep in mind this is also double action and the hammer will come back slightly even when cocked back you may be feeling that or fighting that small backwards action which is giving you the perception of locking up.

Hi Ramjet

Thanks for the reply.

I have two CZ82s and up until this problem developed the other day, both had exactly the same feeling with letting the hammer down.

Now the CZ82 in question won't let the hammer down unless forced.  Wish it was as you suggested.

Thanks again

I realize I'm suggesting something you've almost certainly done, but just to make sure:  have you tried a thorough cleaning before getting serious about diagnosis? It seems like almost every time I see little things like this it's because I've gotten sloppy.

I clean my guns everytime I shoot them and the CZ82 in question is no exception.

I did go over the gun with the grips off to make sure it was really good and clean just to make sure...

Just grasping at straws here, I don't own an 82. Sounds like something is binding, like maybe a hammer pin has worked its way loose?
If guns are outlawed.........

Took the gun to the range today.

Shooting it fixed the problem...

This makes me a little nervous of course.
