Is this 452 Lux worth the extra cash
« on: May 03, 2015, 01:31:13 PM »
I was all set to buy a new 455 Trainer. It has a pretty nice looking stock (not a plain as  a lot of the trainers) and so even though it's a few dollars more than Bud's it was worth it to me. Well then at the last minute I run into this Lux (see below). It has a 25" barrel, tangent sight, and comes with everything they come with new including the box. Has only been fired a very few times and shows as new. It's more expensive than the 455 trainer. I like that the 455's have interchangeable barrels but everyone is always going on about how the 452's were more accurate with fewer problems. Are they really better enough to justify an extra $30 or so over the 455 Trainer (which is already at a premium). I think I could honestly be happy with either.

Worth an extra $30, yes.  But, I prefer the 452 over the 455.

Also, the lux has a walnut stock and the trainer will be beech.

Spend the extra $30.

The 455 Trainer i am looking at is about $40 more than Bud's price but has a nicer looking stock than most Trainers I've seen. I don't seem to see a lot of the 452 Lux's. I tend to keep my firearms for a long time so whatever I buy will likely be passed on to my son at some point (hopefully a long time from now).

You can always buy a 455.

The 452's are much harder to find and are commanding a premium.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

Yes.

If that 452 were in a local shop here, it probably wouldn't make it to the shelf.

"worth" is relative to the person.

i know people that feel that anything over 200~300 for a 22LR is crazy.  So you know where you stand already in their eyes.

Look at the trainer "specs" and then look at the lux "specs".  See for yourself if the differences are "worth" it to you.

If all you want is someone to enable you, then consider yourself enable.

Also, if you want to the 455, then get the 455.

just consider that the 452s aren't being imported much anymore.

After a lot of thought I decided to go with the 455 Training. Obviously there seems to be some loyalty to the 452's but without any real physical reason for choosing it over the 455 the Training does offer some abilities the 452 Lux doesn't. Being able to change between 22lr, .22 mag, and .17 HMR could in the future turn out to be a very desirable option. Accuracy of the 455 can be inhanced if necessary but the ability to swap out calibers will never be an option with the Lux.

If you want the option of swapping barrels, the 455 is the only choice from cz for that.

"Any real physical reason"........ I have had two 455's over the past few years, neither of them would come close to shooting as good as my worst shooting 452 out of the box.  That's pretty real to me.
