Finally shot my new CZ-83 7.65 Browning!
« on: May 17, 2015, 06:46:06 PM »
I bought this CZ a few weeks ago, but have not had time to shoot it (too much work). I have a Beretta 84FS (380 acp), so I had something to compare it to. I found the CZ very accurate and quick...light recoil, and a great trigger. Perfect for a young person learning hand gun skills....or for a new female shooter. I used a "LULA to load the mags. I could hand-load 5 or 6 rounds, but then it got very difficult. I had one case of "Rim Lock", then carefully loaded the next mag. "I'm very happy I bought this gun. I do not see myself parting with it...ever!

Congrats on the new addition to the family. I love mine. I haven't gotten to shoot it too much, and I don't want to put too many miles on it, but I love the gun. I love the capacity of 15 in an easy to control caliber. Everywhere I read about this gun, it is commonly referred to as a good gun for a woman. I'm not having any of it!  I'm proud to say I love my 83 in 7.65.

I love mine too. Just wish I had another one so I could shoot it all the time and preserve the other in the safe.

The 83 in .32 acp/7.65 Browning is a nice little gun, though the trigger guard seems to dig at my second finger.  I bought mine used and it turned out that it had a .380 magazine.  It would only feed a few rounds before it would jam.  I ordered some proper mags and haven't had any trouble since.  So, be careful when buying magazines.  The lips of the .380 mags are wider than mags for the .32.

Love my CZ-83 in .32 ACP. Very light recoil using Prvi 71 gr FMJ. Has a little more kick with the hotter Sellier & Bellot 73 gr FMJ.

I got mine in the fall of 2012 brand new for $400 just before they were discontinued. Now Gun Broker has plenty of CZ-83s in .380 available in the $250-$425 range. But in the past year I have only seen two CZ-83s in .32 ACP on Gun Broker and both went for $800+.

Great gun and a great collector's item.

The CZ83 in .32 ACP and the CZ82 are both on my shortlist to join my CZ83 in .380.

What's a CZ-83 forum thread, without a photo?  (A boring one, that's what!  ;))

By the way Florida Mark, CONGRATULATIONS on your new CZ-83!

It is a HiViz green fiber optic sight, and it's the best alteration I performed to the pistol.  It's friggen superb.

That's a good strategic choice, from various perspectives, and beautiful wood. Give me a "woman's gun" any day, as they call it, if it is a CZ etc.

My only Czech gun so far is the 82, but would also like to have the 83, partly for ammo diversity as a back-up.

Most of my handguns (Maks, CZ, two Polish P-83s) are in 9x18 which, although the ammo is also manufactured in the US,  are partially vulnerable to politicians' future actions against imported 9x18 ammo varieties.
A CZ-83 would be a good compliment not only to the 82, but to the Russian Makarov in .380 Auto.
