I am looking to trade in my cz 83 for a new ccw weapon. Any suggestions?
 i need a smaller lighter thinner gun.
My 83 is strictly a ccw gun so no need to keep it if im not going to carry it anymore.

My wife carries the Sig 238 and loves it. I personally don't care for the single action only factor. I have a Kahr PM9 which is a great DAO gun. Only complaint is that you must rack the slide if it misfires. Overall, it is very accurate and easy to ccw.

Kahr pistols are slim and light and conceal very well, with loads of holster options to meet your desires. They have a looooong trigger pull that is very smooth and fairy light and breaks cleanly without staging or stacking. I carry a CM9 daily or have it in the auto when carrying other during cold weather months (most of the year in Minnesota).

Someone just listed a P238 that's too small for their hands, they might be interested in your 83 possibly... just a thought.

My wife had been using my CZ82 as a bedside and something to take camping pistol. I wanted it back so I started buying .380's for her to try. First was a Sig P232SL, a very classy looking pistol in stainless but it has a rather nasty felt recoil that left her hands tingling. The second was a Bersa Thunder .380. Stop right there. Less expensive, lighter, thinner, accurate, easy and fun to shoot.

As a lover of best bang for the buck pistols the Bersa is one of my favorites now. I changed to the rubber wrap-around grips and bought a second magazine...about $300 invested.

The 232 is a terrific CCW pistol I guess, but the one I have is uncomfortable to practice with. UMMV

If you are wanting to stick with the 9x18 cartridge, you may want to look at the Hungarian FEG P-63 (alloy parts, thus lighter) or Polish Radom P-64 (all steel and heavy).
Both are smaller than the CZ-82, but just as reliable and just as accurate. I carry my P-64 sometimes in an ankle holster, sometimes in my Wrangler pocket. Yes, they are heavy, but smaller and thinner than the CZ-82.
Willing to go with a different round? The options are endless. Find something that is comfortable in your primary carry position.
I have tried many and carry a variety, but my pocket/ankle carry has evolved to snub 38's or 9x18 com bloc single stacks...both are as reliable as I can find.
Have fun shopping, but DON'T SELL the CZ-82...I think you'll regret it sooner than later.

Whoops, sorry. I just noticed you're talking about a CZ-83.
I still recommend com bloc weapons 100%, and I still recommend keeping your CZ-83.
Lots of nice, smaller .380's out there to compliment her and keep your ammo interchangeable.

I love my 83s but they are now 95 % range use; summer I carry the Sig P938 (for me the rubber grips and extended mag were mandatory). Winter I carry my P01, or an N frame S&W 45 ACP...  I think the P938 is very hard to beat if you are comfortable  with a single action (please consider a thumb break holster for carrying cocked and locked). If you prefer DA/SA then I suggest the P01. While larger than the sig it is no harder to conceal than the 83.

Have you considered a Walther PPK/S? Matches the choice parameters you outlined plus very comfortable to shoot and accurate (in my opinion).

Jakeball: Although the weight might be similar, have you excluded the regular Makarovs from Bulgaria, Russia or East Germany?
I've never seen a Chinese Mak (these are rare collectors).

The military types are all single-stack mags, and commercial Russian IZH-70 in .380 Auto is also single-stack.
These are barely larger than my PPK/S, and despite being a subjective impression, are more fun to shoot.

Furncliff, does this mean you prefer the Bersa for yourself, too, over the CZ 82? More compact for ccw? Or was that assessment just for what your wife has?

I'm thinking of getting a S & W Airweight to carry and selling my CZ 82. If the Bersa with rubber handles is a better way to go, I might look at that.
