P-01 or PCR ?
« on: July 15, 2015, 11:14:26 PM »
I'm new to CZ and I've been looking at the CZ 75 P-01 and the PCR. They seem pretty similar. I would love to hear from those of you that own either or both of these pistols. It will be a HD and a car gun. I don't plan to CC it. Help me make a decision.  Thanks, Jim

You have to decide if you want to attach a light or not.

I own both, if I were going to use one for HD and as a car pistol, I'd likely stay with a P01. If I were only going to keep a PCR I'd make sure to put P01 bases on at least 2 mags.

I too was in the same situation. After months of research, I opted for the P-01. Ordered it yesterday, should be at my FFL next week. Now, deciding on a holster..................!

Let me know how you like the P-01.  Also who did you order it from ?  Thanks.

I have a PCR. I looked at a Po1, and it seemed almost identical other than the rail. . Different rear sight , and according to the literature, the Po1 has interchangeable parts that dont need fitted. I kinda have mixed feelings on that.   I have heard or read no complaints on the Po1, and I certainly cannot complain about my PCR. Its  certainly a keeper.  Truth be told, my most accurate 9mm.  Any CZ stuff just seems flat out impressive and addictive as hell. . So I'd say its 50/50.

I just got a P-01 last week and I love it.  I have the OD green version, got it from Kentucky Gun Company (kygunco).  Only issue I had with them, was the order sat for a few days in "processing" status.  When I called to check, they said the credit card was declined.  Never had a problem like that after it showed as having gone through when ordering off the site.  They re-ran the card and it worked out fine, but I thought that was odd.

I also was considering either a PCR or P-01. I went with the P-01 because it would also be a home defense weapon. The rail allows attachment of a light which was the deciding factor for me. Good luck with your decision as both are fine pistols.

Unless you want the rail then I don't think it makes much difference. I shoot both. My PCR just happens to shoot a little more accurate than any of the P-01s that I have shot to date, however there is no doubt in my mind that this has to do with how my pistol just "came together" and is not reflective of PCR accuracy verses that of P-01s.  If it was me, I would be looking at which one I could get a better deal purchasing.

IMO the P01 is the way to go.  Although, really, there is no wrong answer.  Both are excellent guns.

I love the PCR but needed to change out the sights which leaves a "gap" between the ribbing and the new sight which I didn't want.  That issue doesn't exist on the P01.  I don't have a need for a rail but I do use one of my P01s as HD so I guess I could put my Surefire X200 on it.

Anyway, the P01 won out because the rail bothered me less than a gap on top of my slide would have.  But that's just me!!!

I now have a few CZ SDP Compact (P01s) and one of the OD P01s (stock and unfired thus far) and couldn't be happier.

Good luck in deciding which one you want.

I'm not sure if that matters other than being able to attach a light! I went with the P 01 compact mainly because that's what I could get my hands on. Not sure if it really matters though because i do not have the light.
