I don't think I have said that since college.......
The CZ bug bit again, so I stopped by my LGS this afternoon and picked up the latest antidote to help get over the infection.
As I was filling out my paperwork, my guy was looking the gun over and said "I have never known you to buy anything in this bad of shape. It is going to need some TLC to get it to where you will be happy with it." And I said "Yep, everyone needs a project. But, it's a CZ, what's not to like."
Picked up a CZ 75D today. 1999 model. Israeli police surplus trade in. What I think is kind of neat about it is that it is a steel framed gun, not an alloy frame like the current model CZ 75D's.
The frame has plenty of holster wear and scratches, but the action feels good and smooth. Mainspring plug pin has a lanyard loop, which is gonna go so I can replace the old grips with a set of CZ factory rubber I have sitting here. The dots on the sights are almost non-exsitent, but will get cleaned up and probably a dot of paint or polish applied. Already replaced the deformed rubber mag bottom with a new one this evening.
Besides the mainspring plug pin, I am going to replace the recoil spring. What else do you guys recommend I need to do to it besides giving it a good break down and cleaning. (Unless I run it like JoeL and leave it dirty
)
I bought this to use as my "go-to" gun here on the farm when I am on the tractor. It can also work for a truck gun or something to have around the shop. Something that could take a little more abuse than I would want to give any of my other CZ's.
