Generally that means the brass isn't expanding sufficiently to seal the chamber and some gas is seeping by. Usually find that in light reloads, not factory full power loads. Weird.

Tested 5 brands with a CZ SP01 with a Liberty Mystic can.
Strictly tested for sound not accuracy

Prvi 158gr
winnchester 147gr "Train" ammo
Freedom Munitions (not reloads)  147
Fed HST 147   (strictly for curiosity to see how my chosen SD ammo would run)
Federal American eagle flat nose 147

The Freedom Munitions was the same winner by myself and a partner.
It was not a blind test.
The Freedom was missing a higher frequency burst component that all the others seemed to have.
The Freedom Muni also was the cheapest as most people realize.
I was disappointed that the 158gr  didn't sound better.
Got to get some fiocchi 158gr just to satisfy my curiosity.

I run Fiocchi 158gr sub-sonic with my Ti-Rant 45 and I do not need ears on..   ;D
No issues and real fun to hear what the bullets are hitting..   :o

The casings come out of mine looking dark

These are Speer Lawman TMJ 147gr. I've shot 115gr Perfecta's and they come out more cleaner. This is the first 9mm blowback I've owned, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Normal.

I shoot 147 grain handloads, they work 100% perfect, 1040 FPS.

Has anyone shot flat nosed FMJ out of their scorpion? I have a few cases of 147gr flat nose speer lawman sitting here, waiting for my suppressor to get released from jail. I have not had a chance to take it out to the range and test feeding.

I've put about 500 rounds of lawman 147 fmj through mine with the Octane 45.  No issues and sounds like a paintball gun.  8)

Went through 500 freedom munitions 147gr the other day through my form 1 can. Dirty as all hell but bleep is this thing quiet with a can on it. We have a private indoor range at our sportsman club building, and it was hearing safe even indoors.

These weren't bump fired rounds by any chance?  One of the facebook mods had 2 out of battery fires doing bumpfire.

Thanks for the links.  Freedom comes up frequently in a local forum under the "where to buy ammo" threads.  A bunch of guys will say they've shot 5-10K without a problem. Then one guy, and its always a different guy, posts pics of his 9mm ammo where the OAL varies at least 3/8"

I wouldn't shoot Freedom Munitions crap if someone gave it to me for free.

I used to use their ammo until I chrono'd their 40S&W reman ammo I was shooting through a M&P40, I was seeing up to 150FPS difference in a single box of ammo, no real consistency. Nowhere near the OAL variation as the above post, but one or two hundredths difference between the most extreme short and long in that box. When I can reload with a Lee auto-disc on my progressive press and get velocity within 20FPS average on my ammo and OAL within 2 thousandths of an inch, that tells me all I need to know about them.

If someone wants to shoot that stuff, good for them, I would sooner shoot Tula through my pistol.

I have gone through at least 6 cases of Freedom Munitions remanufactured 9mm ammo and I have experience no problems to speak of.

Just wait, shooting their ammo is like ordering from Botach. Everyone swears it's good until they finally get screwed over.

I also found their 9mm Hush ammo to be problematic at best... Sounds like sometimes it works well for people and other times it don't... Guess that would be called an inconsistency problem from a manufacturing standpoint.
