Safety.  I've got my first 1911 in 1978 and always carried cocked and locked.  So the safety use on the P07 and P09 fitted perfectly.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Play around with the safety. You may find that the levers are on the small side and can be difficult for some to manipulate. I was using the decockers but switched over to the safeties on my p09 and p07 for IDPA use. Safeties aren't bad, they just could have given them a little for shelf or thickness for easier thumb use. Careful when switching out the safety and decocker. The safety has a tiny little plastic piece that gives it its on/off notch and that thing can go flying into the great abyss if you get a little ham-fisted during assembly.

I have my decocker on my P07, I've never been a fan of a safety lever,so if I have to shoot that's one less thing I can worry about. Plus I feel comfortable with the gun decocked a decent  da pull with one in the pipe I'm good to go. But that's just me I guess.

I have been a 1911 shooter for a long time, I currently have two full size and one compact so I am very used to and comfortable with Cocked and Locked.

However I have never been able to reliably release the safety on any CZ I have owned. Maybe I have short thumbs. I even had a custom safety made twice and it did not work out.
When I shot my SP-01 in IDPA I shot it Cocked and locked and released the safety with my support hand.

With my P-07 and P-09 I just use the decocker. With some polishing and some CGW parts I do not give up anything on accuracy or speed so that is what I do.

Handle the gun and see what feels best for you.

Decocker on mine. My first serious exposure to handguns was back in '89 with the M9, followed by several other decocker-equipped DA/SA's (and DAO's) through the years, so DA/SA w/decocker is what I know best and am most comfortable with.

My P-07 came with the safety installed, and even though I had other pistols with decockers, I decided that I would have to get used to using the safety lever since all 1911 guys love safetys.

Well, the flimsy little spring behind the plastic detent piece got bent and the safety never did click into the detent with what I would call any security. You just can't get plastic to click into place like steel.

A Safety is no good if it falls apart or falls to function with certainty. Besides that, no safety is to be relied upon--only proper gun handling.

I switched to decocker, it works much better than the safety and there is no spring to get bent and no plastic piece to get lost. I have had ZERO malfunctions with the decocker. Can't say that about the safety.

Decocker. I like having the hammer at half cock when resuming firing. Just always engage it while pointing in a safe direction. You never know when the decocker might actually fail.

I use a decocker for carry guns but the pistols with the safeties have the better trigger.
I don't feel comfortable with cocked and locked.

If it matters to this discussion, I bought a customized P-01 from Stuart (CZ Custom) and they replaced the decocker with the safety.  CZ Custom probably didn't act randomly.

It's total and complete personal preference.

That being said, all my guns have safeties.

I prefer decocker, but  I just picked up a Sig P238
Took me a while to get used to cocked and locked carry.
