"New" Old 1993 CZ 83, 9mm Browning
« on: September 17, 2015, 12:28:23 PM »

Found this CZ 83 (made in 1993) at Ganders in Lansing, MI.  Didn't know CZ even made a nickel plated 83 until I did some research on it.  Funny thing, Ganders bought a large amount of pistols from an estate sale.  As nice as this gun is, none of them had any magazines.

Only paid $279 for the gun and have already added these neat grips from grips4u (my 3rd or 4th set from them).

Spent the  last hour just fondling the gun.  It is very, very neat.  Can't wait until my magazine (from Cheaper than dirt) arrives today.  Found two more NOS (new old stock) magazines from J&G Sales for only $19 each, so now I have them coming as we speak.

This thing has a fantastic single as well as double action trigger pull.  Looking forward to getting to the range as soon as the magazines arrive.

I like the trigger guard better than the newer squared off style.  It sort of looks more sleek or something.

Just wanted to share this great find with you.  May start looking for a  CZ 82 in 9x18 Mak.  The various forum postings seem to indicate that this is also a great gun.  Already have 3 9x18s and love to shoot them.

Dang, great find! Now I need to look for one myself, to keep the squared trigger guard one company. I really like the nickel finish.

I am now not sure if this is really nickel (possible some type of aftermarket coating/finish).  A local high end gunsmith was not even sure.

Regardless, it is a shooter.

Went to the range yesterday and the thing printed one ragged hole at 7 yards (may be the most accurate of all my 380's).

Received two more magazines from J&G Sales ($19 each only).  The are the welded type in contrast to the more expensive none welded.  Got them after I returned home from the range but did try them with AZoom snap caps.  Seem to work just fine.

Really like this gun.

Thanks for all the comments.

Anybody have trouble finding 9*18 Makarov pistol ammo right now?  The fmj target load made in Russia or whatever.  None in my area (Kansas City) right now.

Online sources such as SG Ammo have plenty of 9x18.  Lots of choices like Wolf, Privi-Partizan, Brown Bear, Silver Bear and Hornady.

I can generally find S&B, PPU or Fiocchi Brass case 9x18 fairly easily (especially if I am really looking for something else). I do need to find some of the Ukrainian "Red Army Standard" to feed to the P-64s (they don't like PPU).

Cabela's usually has PPU FMJ and occasionally JHP on the shelf.

Exactly .22-.25/rd. for Russian, based on a scan of "Gunbot" one minute ago.

Very attractive CZ you have!
If one were avail. here, I might drop tentative plans of eventually buying a 9mm CZ (75 Compact), and nab a nickle/satin 83 before my wife even knew that my car was gone.... 8). With that, my wife, again: "But you said that you have the handguns that you want".
