Heads up Wideners has new 82/83 mags for $14.50 each

For all those that dont know 82/83 mags are interchangeable, and Wideners now has a bunch of them new for $14.50 each. Cheapest I have seen them prior was about $29 each and that was a decent deal. Guessing this wont last, so order while you still can.

Thanks for the tip!  I went to Widener's site today and ordered two for my new CZ83.  Can't have too many magazines - I'm up to five and I haven't even shot it yet!   :D

Wish I knew if these have the crossed swords. Haven't had much luck with after market mags.

These are marked CZ on the baseplate and have an X on the side. No idea what that means, but they are built just as heavy and well as the factory mags. Well worth the money in my opinion. Dont see them ever getting cheaper than this.

They are advertised as being CZ-factory mags for the military-issue Vz82, never issued and still in te factory wrapper.

These are likely NOT the genuine article. I bought several, CZ-MFG on baseplate. They are thinner steel, need feed lip adjustments and thickness adjustments to even drop with some effort. Mine were so bad I haven't even tried them all. I hope you have better luck.

Ordered some from Classic Firearms and had similar luck as you. That's why I'm weary of any mags without the crossed swords.

I believe the 'crossed swords' (at one point they looked like 'crossed canons' to me) indicate Czech military issue magazines.  They are definitely better than the "mfg CZ" labelled ones.

The only other CZ82/83 magazines that have worked flawlessly for me have been purchased new from CZ-USA - they usually run about $45 to $50 each.

I've heard all the stories but I still couldn't help myself and added a couple to my order anyway. They lock the slide back but don't drop without some persuasion.

Do they feed reliably?  At that price they could certainly have value as extra 'range magazines' if they actually work, even if they are not 100%

Just an update for anyone thinking of ordering these.  I received two, which appear to be in new, unissued condition.  However, other than the "CZ MFG" stamp on the baseplate, they are unmarked.  No crossed swords.  They have a welded seam down the center of the back which is a little bit "flexible", in that it feels like you could crush it with a good squeeze at that point.  However they do seat perfectly in the mag well, eject, and operate the slide stop when empty just as well as the original CZ mags I have.

I suspect that these are from a military contract buy by some country that issued the CZ-82/CZ-83 - from the "lowest bidder, so to speak - but that they may work perfectly well.  (As a side note, our own supply people screwed up with a big Beretta 92 mag order from Mec-Gar when some rear-echelon weenie insisted that Mec-Gar phosphate coat the INSIDE of the magazine tubes.  Once they hit the sandbox our soldiers found that they wouldn't feed reliably until they stripped them down and polished the phosphating off of the inside of the tube.)

I loaded up the two that I have, one with S&B and the other with WWB with the flat point.  I received a Caldwell chronograph from Santa that I want to try out (We were experiencing unprecedented monsoon weather around Christmas, but now it's gone to sunny and cold), so today I may set up down in the back yard by the creek and blow through the WWB to see if my CZ83 will feed it, and see if the mags work.

I probably won't use either of these as carry magazines - just due to my nagging lack of confidence with them - but will relegate them to range mags (at least for the foreseeable future).

Have not been to the range. If they work, or can be made to work, I was thinking of sanding down/polishing the drag points on the mags so they at least can be removed without issue. My 82 is just a range toy so it's not something that keeps me up at night.
