455 Barrel and Stock change question
« on: January 04, 2016, 04:07:25 AM »
Hello folks.  I'm new here and I'm enjoying the advice and experience from all the posts. I picked up a 455 .22lr/17hmr Combo and am really enjoying it.

A previous thread discussed how Varmit barrels WILL fit on ANY 455 receiver, but the stock could prove problematic if it comes from a taper rifle. If I purchased a Varmit barrel AND a new Varmit stock, is it safe to assume the receiver I have now will drop right into the new stock with the new barrel attached?

Thanks for reading; looking forward to replies.

It should fit no problem.

The 455 is designed to do just that.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

How does that price out? Would it make more sense to buy a new varmint rifle and have a dedicated scope/rifle setup.

How is the accuracy with your 22 setup? If it's not what you want another option might be to  tweak your current setup.

Thanks for the replies, all.

AZ_CZ: my current .22 set up is ridiculously accurate! Took the rifle yesterday to a range and had a ball.

To your point, a new thumbhole Varmit, rings and a scope would run me about $700ish. The new stock and barrel would run about $325.

Maybe I should save my pennies for a 527.... ;)
