new cz-82 questions

Are there any additional opinions on the CZ 82s from SOG?

Do they function well?

How many magazines do they have?

Do you have any pictures?

Are you happy with the purchase?

Thanks for any info.

Got one last week from sog---bore looks like new, finish is a bit rough but acceptable. A couple of concerns I have and I'm
new to the 83/82 design so could be normal. First the trigger guard has a little play in it, it locks up ok and doesn't come loose under recoil but now and then I feel the guard slap against my supporting hand with it rested just underneth the guard. I noticed the spare mag sog sent is a little different
than the one that was in the gun. the bottom is different and there are ridges on each side just above the base.It works ok but the mag won't release pushing the release button on left side only right side, slide doesn't always lock back with this mag either. As for a range report well--tried wolf 109 grain
funtioning was great but accuraccy sucks 6-7 in at 15 yards.
going to try some barnaul and s&b......

The trigger guard is held in place when in the up position by a roll pin that tensions it. I've seen both hollow and solid pins. Is the play side to side or up and down? On my 82's (and 83's) there is a little bit of lateral play; no vertical play and I have to exert significant pressure to pull the trigger guard down, on my newer 83 it takes a lot of pull.

Some mags have a thicker base plate than others, both styles work fine. Compare the follower on the magazines, if the slide is not locking open  with a particluar mag it is probably due to follower wear, perhaps weak mag spring tension. With the pistol stripped (mag out, slide off) observe the functioning of the mag release - as you push in on the mag  release the mag catch (silver or whitish metal inside the magazine well, rounded with a ridge thru the center) should retract. Is it misshaped? You might try a drop or two of CLP or oil on the mag release and catch, working it back and forth.

My 82's seem to digest the Barnuel 92gr HP and FMJ best, 2 - 4 inch groups at 10 yards with me not trying very hard, Brown Bear, Silver Bear and PS grand work fine also. I have'nt tried Wolf in any of my guns.

a little play up and down...the guard doesn't come loose when firing but I noticed that one reason the left side of the mag release won't drop the mag free is because not quite enough tension on the hand guard. Pressing the right side drops the mag easily.

Not at this time.  I need to get a nice flash unit for my camera.  Hmmm, sounds like a gift idea.

Mine has become a favorite, and is loaded next to the bed right now!
It came with two mags, both with the cast, larger base. I have since bought two mags from CDNN-they both have the stamped plate, and the indents on the bottom/sides. Those indents prevent the cartridge rattle present in the other mags, by the way.
While I only tried  6 rounds of Wolf "coneheads" that I had laying in the gun box, accuracy seemed okay, but my 82 jammed feeding one of the 6 on the way into the chamber, as if the rim didn't want to go under the extractor.
Accuracy at 25 yards with S&B and Fiocchi fmj was outstanding, as it was with Hornady and Silver Bear JHP's.
I have a slight amount of side-to-side play in the trigger guard, but certainly no hint of the guard moving downward while firing--that is something I would look at very closely.
My mag release is very stiff to operate on the right (left-handed) side. The left (right-handed) side requires a firm push, and I have to shift my hand to use it, due to the molding of the thumb-shelf on the grips. Not a problem with a 12 round mag.
