First time at the range with the new P-100, and after firing about 130rds at the range this afternoon, I started to miss the target completely and discovered the barrel bushing was missing. I found the bushing, but the bushing pin went missing or was never installed from the factory.

I called Tristar, and they are sending me a roll pin for the barrel bushing. I have a couple of questions. I fired about 20rds with the barrel bushing missing, and is it possible/probable that any damage or accelerated wear was done to the barrel or other components?  If the answer is not probable, will the new roll pin require blue Locktite?  Are there any special installation instructions?

The front sight is still installed and looks fine, and I can't find any damage to the slide or barrel, besides maybe some accelerated wear. Any advice is welcomed, thanks. Here's a pic of the slide, bushing and barrel:

If you don't see any unusual wear or deformation on all of the barrel lockup mating surfaces, there is probably no damage.

Not seeing anything to worry about on your pic.

Thanks, barrel lockup is still super tight and no gouges anywhere that I can see. I did a forum search and found out this happened before with a couple Canik Stngrays and a couple of Tristars. One poster said the CZ75/85 front sight roll pin fits perfectly and is a little beefier than the Tristar roll pin. I'm not sure now if I should use the roll pin Tristar is sending me or try to get a CZ roll pin.

BTW, the P-100 performed well and shoots ok without the barrel bushing...lol.  I was just getting in a groove and narrowing my shot patterns to 3" from 15yds when all of a sudden I wasn't hitting the target anymore.

Here's a target pic that I was zeroing in on when all hell broke loose. Also, on another post, Brian mentioned to check the feed ramp for damage when the barrel bushing is missing and you're still firing. The feed ramp looks good, just dirty since I haven't cleaned it yet.

Yes, This happened to my T120 and I couldn't find the bushing. I sent it back and they replaced it with a black bushing (gun is dessert sand). Luckily it actually looks cool like that.

Anyone think I should remove the roll pin and add some Loctite or something like that?

Well I got lucky and found the bushing. I'm not sure if there was ever a roll pin installed from the factory, but I'm going to play it safe and put a dot of blue locktite on the new roll pin when I install it. The P-100 was running great until this happened, kind of ruined a good outing. Tristar answered their phone quickly and said they would mail the pin yesterday, so their warranty service appears to be very good so far.

My pin was most certainly in there when I got it. There is a problem with the pin they use or something else. They were quick to fix it but I was turned off by the way they took it as a common problem. ...fix the bleep problem!

Don't get me wrong, the gun is awesome for the money. I'm just mad that I'm still reading about this problem when they know it is happening.

I picked up new roll pins from Grainger (302 stainless M2x 10MM 25pcs item#5DB74) for $2.99. This roll pin was a little bugger to get seated into the hole, but I finally used a round toothpick (from the bottom side) to guide it in. The pin fit is very very tight, so I didn't see the need for any Loctite. I'm going back to the range on Monday, and I'll keep a close eye on the pin.

Not trying to thread jack but why don't the Witness pistols use barrel bushings?

I just zoomed out one of my earlier pics of the P-100, and there was NO barrel bushing roll pin installed from the factory. In that pic below, you can easily see the edges of the other roll pins, but there's no hint of a roll pin installed for the barrel bushing. i guess the Cerakote finish held the barrel bushing in for over a 100rds and finally broke loose and popped out. Zoom out the pic (ctrl and +),  and you'll see what I mean.

Send that doll to me and I'll run a few hundred rounds through it to test it. It's tuff but somebody's got to do it.

Tanfoglio altered the Cz Lockup, so as not to need a front Barrel Bushing, the way other modern Pistol designs do, such as SigArms and others.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be back at the range tomorrow, and I want to run 300rds through this P-100.

^^ Ha! Me too. I'm planning a range trip tomorrow after work. I hope to shoot about 100 45acp (1911) and 150 9mm (S-120). I also got a new maglula / uplula magazine loader / assist. It's so easy to keep dropping ammo in the mags.
