So here we go I recently purchased a CZ 512 and have not had a chance to use it yet. It is just sitting in my pluck foam case looking pretty.

I want to clean it before taking it out this spring and also in the future as I start being able to get out and shoot more.

What I am looking for is suggestions on these products and if this is the correct way to clean this rifle:

1. cleaning rod, i want a solid rod that would be the right size for .22LR (dewey ivy proshot) not sure at all

2. Rod guide one that will perfectly fit the CZ 512 and a cleaning rod from above

3. Cleaning solvent and gun oil (hopes #9 got recommendations)

4. I read around and think a nylon brush is what i am interested in with a pierce jig

Any thoughts or recommendations will be appreciated.

I really need to know the cleaning rod length and what rod guide works with this rifle.

Thank you for your time.

Congrats on the rifle. I just bought the 512 carbine version. Hopefully will be shooting it for the first time saturday.

I have many bolt action cz's from 30-06, 6.5x55, 7.62,  17hmr and many in 22lr.

I used clp to clean them. And sometimes hoppers as well. I don't use a rod. I use the worm patch made by 2020 concepts. It's easy and works. I don't like the hopes patches I use the cotton ones which I think absorb better. I took my 512 apart and to my surprise there was not a lot of grease in the inside just light oil. So I left the oil and cleaned the bore. This was also prettty clean. Hope this helps a little.

I use a Proshot .20 cleaning rod for my CZ .22's. The bore is a little too tight for a .22 rod.

Just spray it with Hornady's One Shot.
