Glasers should be fine for self-defense although they are expensive. My mother uses the Federal Hydra-Shok in her 83 and we are both satisfied with the performance of those.

i think that most modern HP for the .380 are about the same.
You might try Silvertips...or the Speer Gold-Dots.

The Glaser (developed for the Sky Marshals)is fine for targets on an aircraft. They would not be wearing coats or even body armor..unlike a street shooting.

The Glaser .380 will give me at least 9mm P ballistics.
I much prefer the 9mm Glaser blue.Feeds like ball and
hits very hard.OF course, penetration is an issue.

Magsafe also makes a frangible round. I carry the .380
hydra-shok, as it is just as good as any other HP in the
caliber and my gun likes it. I'll probably buy some SPEER
Gold-Dots when i can find some around here.

I have not tried these in NEARLY enough pistols to be sure, but there has been a general rule in my experience: When Hydra-Shoks don't feed, try the Speer Gold Dots.  Remington GS and Speer GD seem to feed in virtually anything.

I would go back a try a few things again after @500 more rounds through the gun.  Sometimes loads that didn't work on a brand new pistol do fine later.  I am not sure exactly why, but there are several possibilities.  I have never had much luck with Hydra-Shoks in any CZ, but I only tried during the first session or so.
