Sar b6p
« on: February 21, 2016, 07:55:39 AM »
Hey all,
Just picked up a sar b6p full size, didn't notice at the lgs that the crown is somewhat rough and not polished. Can anyone post a photo of there crown and barrel, it also has some tool marks on the front, should I take this up with my lgs? Send it back to Sar? Will it affect accuracy? Thanks for your help guys!

Thanks for the photo, your crown looks a bit better than mine. I broke it down and gave it a good cleaning tonight, now I haven't shot it yet but all the reviews that said it is of outstanding quality must be high lol. Now I know its a cheap gun but Its has more machine marks in the slide of any other gun i have ever owned, including kel-tec. Where is this famous Turkish qualityI have heard of?

That really doesn't look that bad, mine was far worse, I was not impressed with the fit and finish.

My crown and barrel looks much better in real life than the picture. The crown is polished and the lug does have machine marks, but nowhere else on the barrel.  The thing shoots lights out.  This is my wife's pistol and the first handgun she ever shot.  I taught her how to handle a gun safely with the 5 handgun rules (I know, most people have 4, but I added, "Thou must not under any circumstances ever point the pistol at, or shoot thy husband").  She qualified at the range to get her concealed carry by putting the first 20 shots in the bulls eye. It has several thousand rounds thru it with no problems.  It also has an added plus.  Buds sells the EAA Witness .22 conversion kit for small framed Witness pistols.  I bought one for my Witness P-S 9.  Lo and behold, it works on the Sar B6P as well.

There is a quality assurance problem with some Turkish pistols.  I have owned 7 and most are good, but 2 of them were duds.  Some are not that great, but can be fixed and become great shooting pistols.  I was lucky enough on one of my duds to have bought it at Buds under their free lifetime warranty (for that pistol only) at the time, and they gave me my money back. For $229-$250 for the B6P, depending on where you buy it, it's worth the gamble to some.  My local gun store will order it for me for a little more, but if I don't like what I see, I don't have to buy it.  That may be the best route for me going forward.

I can't comment on Sar since I don't own one, but Tristar/Canik makes a fine pistol based on the three that I own. IMO, my Caniks are reliable, well machined, and darn near as accurate as my matte stainless CZ75b.

After reading all this I had to go to my Safe and look at my SAR B6P, as I was wondering if I had the same Pistol.  ::)

The Fit and Finish on my SAR B6P remains excellent in most areas.  My Barrel crown could use some polishing, but it's not bad.  The sides of the barrel underlug has some tool marks, but these in no way affect operation, which is smooth.  It's very accurate, reliable, and probably worth more than I paid for it!  8)

When they are good, they are definitely worth more than you pay.  There's no doubt. But sometimes they don't come good, that is a fact I learned from buying several of them.  One that didn't come good was my Sar B6 Hawk.  But I kept it and made it good and I wouldn't take nothing for it now.  It is one of my favorite target shooting pistols.  BTW, the EAA Witness .22 conversion kit works great on the Hawk as well.  So all my Hawk mags will work in my wife's compact Sar B6P, but not vice versa cause they are too short for the Hawk, except the extended one.
