Bren Back From The Shop
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:20:12 AM »
Well I got my Bren back from having the barrel cut, crowned and threaded. Not sure what steel is used in the making of the barrel but it was hard enough to dull the SOT band saw so it had to be cut down on the lathe. Took 1.5" off and threaded 1/2x28. Also put the MI MLok rails on and the KNS stock adapter.

How does if function w/ low pressure Russian steel cased like Tul without that can?  Up gas setting or run reliably on standard?

Tula/Wolf and m855 are all I have shot through it. 600rds total so far. Suppressed and Unsuppressed. No issues at all.

This is 62g HP Wolf ammo at 50yards. 40rds rapid fire. Plenty of accuracy for me with the cheap stuff. This was suppressed with the Mepro M21.

Was this the 11" barrel with 14x1LH threads?  If so, this looks like what I need to do to mine since I have tons of suppressor mounts in 1/2x28 but none in 14x1LH and not many options to buy either.  I gotta suppress this thing, just trying to figure out the best way to get there without an adapter.  I wasn't sure if there was enough metal there to do 1/2x28 threads.

Yes it was the 11" barrel with the 14x1 threads. Had it cut crowned and threaded by Class 3 Machine

Dug this up searching on here.

I want a Bren bad. Just because why not. Would definitely sbr the gun but curious if getting a carbine and cutting the barrel vs getting a pistol and a pistol brace stock for the short term. My sig brace is on my scorpion for another 8 months while I wait on the form 1.  Therefore I don't want to spend $ on another setup of that. Would think chopping is more cost effective in the long run?

Of course cutting down a perfectly good barrel seems drastic in my scenario.

The rope is actually a lace that holds the suppressor cover in place. Among other things it reduces mirage when the can heats up.
