Upgrade parts for SAR B6P ?
« on: March 02, 2016, 03:07:35 PM »
I have a SAP B6P full size, and I really like it.  However I was having more and more FTE issues, no matter what ammo I used. I tried Remington, Winchester, and Blazer.

Nonetheless, I decided it was high time to do a serious cleaning, and when I pulled out the extractor, the edge of the "claw" that grabs the case rim was chipped - the corner was gone, making for inconsistent extraction.

I ordered a new extractor (and pin and spring, since my floor seems to eat these kinds of parts) from EAA and will install it when it comes, but I have had great luck with Volquartsen parts for my Rugers and my Browning Buckmark, and I thought it might be worthwhile to upgrade rather than replace.

Do any of you use CZ parts from czcustom?  Has anyone found a place that makes quality parts for clones? Is EAA the best place to go?

Currently, as EAA is the only/main importer, they are the only game in town, when it comes to parts.
There is no other one currently making or importing aftermarket parts for these Pistols, at this writing.
T'would be nice if someone made a nice lime green Fiber Optic Front sight.

And that's why folks eventually buy a Glock.......every part known to man.  If the Tanfoglio line had a few easily obtained spares and upgrades it would make our favorite pistol so much more fun to own.

A fairly cheap trigger job is not hard if your experienced at all and the improvement to accuracy pays dividends.

But were not talking a full one. Just a reduced hammer spring and a Polish job. The spring to use is the same as the one for a witness new model short i believe. I actually can dig up the part number from wolf if you need it.

Polish is a little tricky on the hammer and is really more of a buff than a polish the angles that it rides off of the sear are not the same as the older model witnesses with the longer hammer spring. (if my recollection is on par)

Either way its pretty straight forward polish light to get the crisp break without the scratchy drag feel associated with most all b6p's when they are new.

The spring from wolf is a 13lb. But grab a 14 too. Just in case you get some light strikes. But i have 750 rounds of hand loads so far and no problems. The spring is around $4. For both with shipping run about $12-$14.

There are a few more parts that fit but i can only guarantee from experience that the hammer spring is one.

The obvious thing is the value of the pistol limits its need for unnecessary purchases of parts that do little good in performance or added price value. Its the nitrous in a 3cylinder geo effect.

A dremel, some flitz, and a low cost spring do make a big difference .

I also understand that the Henning light firing pin works in the b6p. But i saw no need getting perfect ignition thus far .

I also understand that the light trigger return spring and sear safety spring work as well in the B6P. But with what i have with just the hammer return spring and polish i did not want to by overpriced wolf springs made at Hennings request/design only to have them fail to fit. Wolf does not sell them to consumers i understand. Plus the removal of the trigger assembly in the SAR is supposed to be tricky and finicky compared to a witness or CZ.

I'm not 100% certain if Tanfoglio parts will work but Patriot Defense in Kemah, Texas has a lot of these parts in stock. May be worth a shot.

I'm actually about to order a Tanfoglio extended mag catch/release for my SAR USA CM9 Gen2 from them.

The only upgrade I can think of that's not easily available is sights. What kind of upgrades do you want? And i will not eventually buy a Glock!

Most things can have a red dot mounted if you are willing to get machining done to the gun.

An Optic Mounting Plate adapter for the Beretta 92FS should fit in the SAR Rear Sight Dovetail.

Is that true for all SAR models or just the B6C?

I know that the SAR B6P and B6C use the same Rear Sight Dovetail.  I would expect that some of the others that use fixed sights would too, but I can't really say that for sure.

The Rear Sight Dovetail on my SAR K2P, the newer SAR CM9 Gen 2, and my SAR K2-45, is different, as they all use an adjustable Rear Sight that has a wider base.
