I took the original 9mm slide from my 75B frame with me today to practice.  I put a CGW barrel bushing in it earlier this week and mounted a Burris FF III 3 moa red dot on it, like I have on the 97B"E" and P-09.  I've been shooting this 75B frame with a Kadet conversion on it in the rimfire bullseye matches, and I've been shooting a CZ-97B"E" in the centerfire matches.

The trigger pull on this frame is a little under 2.5 lbs with the rimfire slide and barely 2 lb-9 oz with the centerfire slide, measuring from the center of the trigger.  Might pass a tech inspection, but it is borderline for centerfire minimum of 2 lb - 8 oz.

I was very happy with the accuracy of the gun from a rest this week, but I knew the real test was single hand standing at 25 and 50 yards using standard targets and timing.  Shooting it in match simulation conditions resulted in some excellent groups but I had difficulty with trigger control, of all things.  And I had a couple of light hits out of 100 rounds.  The light hits are probably due to a dirty firing pin channel or a burr on the FPSB, not a problem to fix at all.  No problem.

The real issue I have is that I don't have time between now and the match next weekend to get used to the very light trigger pull.  Same problem I had with the 97B"E" when i first got it--the trigger was too sensitive.  Now that I have the .45 pistol pull up above 3.5 lbs, I can control it just fine.  At 2.5, I was releasing shots unintenionally way too often.  Happened to me maybe 5 times this morning out of 100 rounds with the 75B.

Groups were good when I controlled the trigger properly, even out to 50 yards slow fire.  Timed and rapid were good except for the early discharge shots.  I can use it as a backup match gun, I'll just have to be very careful with it.

My dilemma is this.  The 75B trigger pull is within the limits and works fine with the Kadet slide.  I don't think a one pound increase in trigger pull would hurt me at all with the Kadet but I won't know without trying it.  No way I'm going to jack with that gun a week before a match.

I got the 97B"E" out for the first time in a couple of weeks and shot 60 rounds.  Really good results, including a 99 timed fire target.  That was all it took for me to decide to shoot the 97 Easter weekend instead of the 75B with the 9mm slide.  So, back to the 2015 match pistols==the Kadet on the 75B frame and the CZ-97B"E".  They both are "right" for me.

I just studied today's targets in detail.  Other than the early discharges/accidental double taps with the 75B 9mm slide, the hits are as good with the CGW bushing-ed 9mm slide as they are with the 97B"E" match gun.  The holdover at 50 yards is lower than with the .45.  In other words, accuracy of the 9mm slide is really good now, so trigger control and sight control now set the group size, not the gun.  As it should be.   Even with the light trigger, I can try some 100 and 200 yard targets now from a rest with the gun, whereas before, it would have been a waste of ammo compared to the P-09 and 97B"E".

I am really happy with the bushing.  The gun is just not yet set up correctly for a bullseye match gun...for me.  Other shooters can probably handle the light trigger, I never have been able to with a centerfire gun, just with the 22 conversion.

This is fun.  This is not easy.

Hi Joe,

I gotta ask, ( I am sure others are wondering as well),    'why' did you put in the new CGW bushing?  was the original worn out? or were you hoping to improves something... I am intrigued by this product and am considering it for my CZ's.   just wondering the rationale behind the scenes!

I always read and appreciate your shared stories, CZ wisdom!  has been a good education base for me.

thanks,

Handgun2--A little background.  I bought a standard 75B in 9mm in 2012, I think.  Bought a Kadet kit and a handfull of CGW trigger parts but the results from the 9mm were never as good as with my other 9mm SIGs, so I left the Kadet on the frame and the 9mm slide in the safe.  The frame and Kadet have over 40k rounds now.  Three years ago I bought a P-09 and it was a fantastic shooter, so I used it for all 9mm stuff and left the 75B slide in the safe.

When CGW came out with the bushing, I decided to give it a try, since my factory bushing didn't feel very tight at all.  I had nothing to loose.  I put the bushing in the gun and shot it with the open sights with results equivalent to my open sight P-09.  So I decided to put a red dot on it.  Did so and sighted in the new sight quickly, again with good results.  So today, I tried the 75B in a practice session similar to what I normally do with the 97 or P-09.  Gun shot very well, but the trigger was too sensitive.

So, I tried the bushing because my particular slide/bushing/barrel was not good enough for a match gun as it came from the factory.  I had nothing to loose.  The plastic fantastic P-09 just sets a new standard for mechanical accuracy in a mass produced service gun.  It took a CGW fitted bushing in a CZ-97 to equal a factory stock P-09.  This 75B with a CGW is close...now...and it wasn't even worth comparing before.

thanks so much Joe!  always good information from a longtime CZ guy to share with the rest of us. I wish I could do the range time/usage you have!

cheers,

JoeL,
Thank you for sharing the results' analysis on the 9mm with CGW bushing. If the accuracy is actually converted that drastically, well, we have  in our hands some match accurate pistols in almost no cost.
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull
