Steel is annealed at 1400*F. Do you really think the average bubba w/ his blowtorch and brownells solder is certain that he's not overheating the barrel by less than 200*F, 15%? At least part of the barrel is likely to exceed that temp and soften...Silver solder also causes/locks in corrosion. It's simply not a good idea.
