Picked up my first CZ (P-07) yesterday
« on: April 05, 2016, 12:23:01 PM »
i have the new updated version.  I plan to read through the forum as i have time.  in the meantime, are there any quirks or characteristics of the P-07 i should be aware of or watch out for?  I am looking very forward to getting to the range soon to try it out and see if all that i have read about it is true.

Don't leave alone in the dark!!

If you do, it might result in a P09, or another P07.  This happened to me.  Really.

Well, truly, the P07 was first for me, followed by a 9MM P09, then another P09 in .40 S&W.

In my experience, they are pretty good pistols.  Reliable, accurate and the thing fits my hand as well as my 1911's.

Now all you need is some extra magazines and a good holster or two.

Oh and ammo and practice.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Lol...I will say that when I showed it to my wife last night there was a brief moment when I though she was going to claim it for herself.  If she had then I would have been forced to buy another one, no darkness required.  I have also been eyeing a P-09.  It may have to join the family soon.

My wife appropriated my XDM 3.8 9MM about 3 or 4 years ago after shooting some really nice groups with it.

Back in November or December we went shooting and she was shooting "her" XDM and my P09 .40 S&W.  Next thing you know, she's asking why the CZ shoots better groups than the XDM, and she's saving her targets.  I did a preemptive strike and bought her a CZ 75 Compact so I could keep the .40 S&W P09.

You gotta watch the women.  Especially those that like accurate guns.

The only thing I would do soon is swap out the stock recoil spring for a unit a couple of pounds lighter.

These P-07's are sprung pretty tight from the factory and will short stroke on some lighter factory loads.

Other than that, just shoot the heck out of it!

Congratulations!  The only thing I think you'll need to worry about is keeping enough ammo on hand. I'm pretty sure you'll really like shooting your new P-07!

Thanks for the tip.  It is very tight.  Any suggestions on a good place to buy a lighter recoil spring?  I can do a search but if you guys already know a great place then i would not need to "recreate the wheel"

I'd take your P-07 to the range first before you think about making any changes. You may not want to change a thing. I like my P-09 just like it is, 100% stock :)

that is good advice....i was actually planning to do this but i guess my question was more about asking if there were any known (somewhat) common issues people have experienced.  I should have been more clear in my post.

Actually, that is exactly what any new gun owner should do.  But keep the recoil spring in mind if you have feeding problems.
Don't get discouraged if you do.  They are great guns.
