First post! I'm not new to Czech guns, I've had a CZ75 compact for a couple of months now. Earlier this year in January I sold a Beretta Storm CX4 carbine in search for another 7.62 by 39 rifle. I have a Ruger Mini 30 and I wanted another carbine in the same caliber. I was going to get an AK but came across an ad for a VZ2008 on Armslist. I looked it up, I heard about the rifle before but I didn't know much about it. I fell in love with what I heard, it had all the features I thought an AK lacked being last shot hold open, a bolt catch, and a ergonomic safety. Plus it was an open top design like my Ruger Mini 30 which I prefer since they have huge ejection ports. Fast forward a few months, I've put on a surplus bakelite fixed stock instead of the folder, replaced the muzzle break with one I found on ebay, along with a few other things here and there. The SN is VZ08PM 0016XX for the rifle. I tried looking at Century's website to see if they kept a log or something online to let you know what the build date was for a particular rifle but no such thing exists. From what I can tell, the carrier is not tabbed, it has the rounded trigger disconnect, and the front sling mount is the mushroom shaped one and not the ring. I included photos of the rifle below. I've put about 300 rounds through it. I had a few failures to feed on the initial round when I let friends shoot it but no other serious issues. Rifle is accurate and eats my Yugo M67 ammo with no issues. Of course I clean the barrel immediately when I get home as I do not believe the Century barrels are treated at all and the Yugo M67 ammo is mildly corrosive. Bore looks good though in the barrel.
