Speaking of Range Bags
« on: June 20, 2016, 01:13:51 AM »
In another thread we discussed range bags.
I'm hoping someone can help me find one.
I've been looking for a new range bag and can't find what I need for my shooting venues.  One of the guys I shoot with has just what I need but they no longer offer it.

Looking for a smallish bag that has 6 or more real "mag holders", internally will hold four plastic one hundred rd cartridge boxes, and two CZ 75 plastic pistol boxes,  maybe an external small pouch or two to hold a shot timer and the small tools and stuff most of us need: uplula, pro-grip etc..  Double zipper top opening, shoulder and hand carry strap.
My pickup is always nearby to carry the larger tools and stuff, food and drink etc.  These don't need to go in the bag.

The bag I liked looked similar to this pic. but was 14" long, 11" wide and 10" tall.  This will make my shoulder sag when full.  I sure don't want a bigger one.

Any advice is appreciated.

These http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/CEDDAA-RangePack-Medium-Size-Backpack--P2906.aspx are awesome. Carry on one shoulder or both. They've got an even larger one that you can pack 4 guns and all the ammo you want in. Good quality. My first bag from Midway fell apart in a year, this is on its 2nd season and isn't showing signs of wear yet and I'm at the range at least once a week and, when I'm there, I'm traveling from bay to bay so it's just not sitting there while I shoot, it gets a lot of banging around.

Thanks pacman, that's basically a back-pac medium size,  and I'd rather get a one-story version "small" or compact bag.  It does look good,  but more space than I need.

I use an iShot Medium bag. It holds 12 mags, has room for 3 or 4 pistols (depending on size), a removable inner bag, enough space for 4-500 rounds, and a small bag for brass.

Unfortunately iShot are no longer in business, but you can still find their bags and stuff on eBay and Gunbroker. Good piece of kit.

I wasn't born in America, but I got here as fast as I could.

Thanks Grendel,  I'll look and see if they have any small bags still in the market.

If you haven't already bought a new range bag, take a trip to your local Home Depot and check out their Husky brand tool bags. I had several different MidwayUSA range bags and they were ok but were too generic and couldn't do anything great.

My wife bought me one for my birthday with internal tool pouches and plenty of room for plastic boxes, mags, gun boxes and other types of storage. They are designed for all manner of tools so you are bound to find something that would work really well.  And they are typically better built that most range bags and at a fraction of the cost.

I am not sure how much you are looking to spend but Maxpedition recently revamped a bunch of their products and they are sealing their old stock of some items at a discount. They make allot of CCW bags.  I like their old stuff better. I have one of there smaller Jumbo S-type Versapacks, its quite nice but it was pricey. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/Jumbo-S-Type-Versipack-Closeout-FINAL-SALE-273p54.htm

Here is a link to the clearance section. I saw a few in there that might be in the range of your description.

Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

f2benny,  thanks that's really close.  Wish they showed the interior in the pics. :P  It's size and looks are very much like the Berretta bag.

I have the voodoo tactical scorpion range bad and I love it.  Very good quality, double zipper opening, mag holders on the inside of one side, outside storage, inside storage.  It's a nice bag
