New Kadet - Range Report
« on: July 24, 2002, 03:45:44 PM »
After looking at many different .22 pistols, I finally decided to go with the Kadet for my 75B (mainly from the good advice on this forum).  I got it from Jake at Northeast Firearm.  He was a pleasure to do business with and I had it in 2 days Priorty Mail...$241 with 2 mags including shipping.  I believe he still has some left.  These are NIB with the new firing pin.  I took it to the range today and shot 150 rounds...50 CCI Mini Mags, 50 Federal Lightning, and 50 Winchester Super X.  I can not believe how well this thing shoots!  I started at 5 yds and went out to 25 yds.  I have never shot any of my other guns as well as this.  Nice tight groups right to the point of aim.  The owner of the range (who is a far better marksman than I'll ever be) fired one mag and was very impressed (10 rounds at 10 yds in the size of a quarter). Ammo report follows:

CCI Mini Mags: Walmart - $3.96/100
2 Fail to fire on the first pull but fired on the 2nd pull.

            Winchester Super X: Walmart - $1.98/50
1 Fail to fire on the first pull but fired on the 2nd pull.

Federal Lightning: Walmart - $.88/50 (can't beat that)
            No failures

I'm sure these 3 fail to fires were ammo related.  I didn't notice any difference in accuracy between the different ammo.

The Kadet did need some fitting.  I did do a good amount of filing. Just take your time. The instructions are easy to follow, and I have a nice, tight fit which, I'm sure, contributes to the accuracy.  This leads me to believe that it may not be a good idea to buy a previously owned kit that has already been fitted to another gun.

All in all, I'm a real happy camper with my new toy.

Not all Kadet kits require fitting.

My first one was so bad that a local gunsmith couldn't make it work.  My dealer returned it to CZ.  The second one worked perfectly, right out of the box.

My Kadet required very little fitting and is very tight.  Last week I shot a quarter size hole in a target at 25 feet with 50 rounds of Fed Classic.  My Glock, Advantage Arms kitwill sometimes not cycle when it is dirty with Fed but the Kadet never misses a beat.  The Glock likes Winchester Dynapoint the best but I can't seem to find it anymore now that my K mart doesn't sell it anymore.

None of my .22 Adapters like the Remington Golden Bullet (9.99 for 525  at Bass Pro Shops) even though this is the recommended ammo for Ciener Adapters.
