Safety vs decocker................
« on: August 02, 2016, 08:36:37 AM »
I am in the process of purchasing a 2072 rami.
I have the option of getting either one, the safety or decocker version.
The decocker is rarer, more expensive, and more difficult to find, but I'm sure the safety version is just as good.

Can you people who have a 2075 of the various versions weigh in on which version you chose and why?
I can see benefits to either, or both, systems.

I plan it to be a primary carry weapon, if that helps.

Thanks.

This gets rehashed quite often on the forum.  It all comes down to personal preference.

My preference is for the Safety version, as all my CZ's are safety guns.  For my application, I see no point in a decoder gun.  I grew up with revolvers, so manually decoding is of no concern to me.

YMMV.

My preference is the decocker. For me it's easier and safer to hit the lever to release the hammer.  Now you have it-----

I have the decocker.  I'm new to handguns and carrying with one in the chamber and decocked seemed like a safer bet to me.  I don't have to remember to flip the safety off to fire.

Safety version here.  I like having a choice of carrying in Cond 1 or Cond 2 halfcocked.  I have no problem thumbing the hammer to halfcocked by putting my thumb between hammer and firing pin when doing so.

I prefer the decocker models. I feel that a safety is redundant on a DA/SA pistol. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, the decockers come with tritium night sights, while the safety models do not.

I'm prefer a safety.  Carry in condition one, practice draw safety click.

All mine are decockers. Like James I was raised on revolvers so no issue with the hammer. Just prefer Decockers.

My RAMI is a manual safety. I wanted a decocker, but couldn't find one and eventually settled on the manual. Kinda glad that happened since I do like the option of a manual safety, and it comes in handy at the range. I carry it decocked to half-cock though.

I like that you can not engage the safety on the RAMI (as well as most if not all other CZ pistols) unless the gun is fully cocked. No chance of accidentally engaging the safety while carrying.

Mine is a Safety model, I thought about getting the decocker but the Safety was available locally and I'm honestly glad I went with the Safety now. I have no issues lowering the hammer to half cocked with my thumb which is how I carry mind because as said the safety cannot possibly engage unless the hammer is fully cocked so carrying in half cocked there is no chance of the safety getting accidentally turned on while in the holster. However, also as mentioned having the safety is pretty handy at times for range duty.

Besides the obvious advantage of no possibility of forgetting, under duress, the safety, I love that my CZ 2075 BD (and my CZ 97 BD!!!) provide a generous "safe spot" for my strong thumb between the Slide Stop and the Decocker Lever.

And in drawing from my 12:00 IWB completely concealed carry (RAMI) location, the hammer gets used as a 2nd lift point such that my thumb pulls it from decocked safety to fully cocked as a natural consequence of the draw.

And as mentioned above, only the BD comes with TruDot Tritium nignt sights.  No-brainer!

ANd that's why we have choices.  I carry condition 2, I just don't need a decocker telling me I have to.  As far as night sights, I would just as soon have stock as Meprolites, if they came with TFX Tru-glo's that might be a different story.
