Anyone else looking forward to deer season?
« on: October 07, 2016, 07:10:33 PM »
Heading up to the Hill Country (Texas) this weekend to finish prepping the deer camp. Feeders have been running since August and most of the shooting lanes have been cleared. Time to finish clearing brush and get the cabin ready for use. Spotted a few decent bucks in the area and lots of does. I need to shoot some hogs and raccoons this weekend to hopefully discourage them from hanging around the feeders. My brother, brother-in-law, brother's brother-in-law, 2 nephews and my son are all going up to the camp to help.

Finally got out on a windy bow hunt this weekend. Taking some of my employees out on a group hunt this weekend and can't wait.

no deer this year for me  :(
drove all night 6 hours north
camped for 5 days with my buddies
traversed steep and rough terrain
stalked, glassed, waited,
Nothing
saw many does
got checked by wardens twice
met a guy who hunted the area since the Fourties (!!!)
met others who complained about white lice, drought and the fires
traversed a whole bunch of terrain again and again
Nothing

Had fun
will return next year
