New CZ 97 BD on the way
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:26:25 PM »
I just purchased a new 97BD and am waiting for it to be delivered. Any words of wisdom folks would want to share about their experience with the pistol?

Congrats! I ordered a 97B Friday. I've been wanting one for a long while but I kept finding deals on other guns. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Check if the factory grips are good for your hands.  There are a few options for these including wood and rubber.

You will love the 97BD. If you have 1911's around they will become jealous since you will ignore them after shooting the 97BD. Just an awesome .45 in every way.

A pure pleasure to shoot and a tack driver.
When your ready for something different... CGW parts plug and play just like the 75s.
Pretty easy to work on too.

This by 100%. David at CGW is just an awesome guy to deal with. He will get you exactly what you need whenever you get ready to take the 97 to the next level. And yes, I'm a CGW fan boy for life![emoji3]

Get ready for a boatload of fun, I picked up a new BD at a local gun show last month, took it home for a disassembly and a good clean. Got to the range next day and put 250 rd of fmj thru it and 50 rds of HST, not a single glitch or malfunction of any kind. I have read many posts and reports of the 97's accuracy but I still was amazed at the results. From 5 to 15 yards all I could do was pretty much put one big hole in the center of the target, The groups opened up at 25 yrd but still in the center area of the target.
To say I was happy with it would be an understatment, I am in my mid 60s and no where as steady as I was in my younger days, and working on a set of cataracts, and this was the best day at the range for me in years.

Both of you gentlemen are going to really enjoy your new .45's!   8)  I'm also a fan of putting the rubber grips on it.  Also, I've had no problem shooting Federal White Box FMJ 230g, Sellier and Bellot FMJ 230g, and all of the high quality JHP's (Federal, Hornady, Speer, etc) out of it.

Plus my wife can shoot it from 15 yds like "ringing a bell"!

The 97 is such a soft shooter my wife prefers it to her P01.

while I liked the thin aluminum grips, I have the CZ rubber grips on all my other CZ's so I put them on my BD as well.
after about 4-500 rounds through the weapon to make sure function  is right then I suggest that you slip  the Cajun reduced power springs and extended firing pin in it.
makes a very good gun much better and still remain safe to carry at a very reasonable price.
The down side to owning my 97 BD is that my 1911's get really lonely sitting in the safe and not getting out much.
enjoy.

I recently picked up a lightly used 97BD. It's my second CZ, the first was long ago sold to a friend. In the meantime I helped a friend lightly Cajunize his P01. Looking forward to shooting it and maybe doing a little modding. I can't leave anything stock.
