I also don't like how far the slide lock lever (slide stop) sticks out on the right side of the frame. The frame is chamfered for a much shorter piece...
I noticed this exact same thing. So, while examining and comparing the safeties between by SP-01 Compact and my Custom Tactical Sport, I noticed that the slide stops of the SP Compact and TS looked identical. I tried them in the opposite guns, and they are in fact identical. The SP Compact is wearing a Tactical Sport slide stop.
My though is that a slide stop from a standard alloy P-01 may work even better for this SP Compact gun. It would give even better access to the slide stop, and would holster better since I assume the slightly shorter P-01 slide stop will not protrude as far out the other side of the frame.
This brings me to two questions, since I do not have a P-01 here to borrow the slide stop from.....:
1) Will the P-01 slide stop fit and function correctly in the steel frame SP Compact, while also not protruding as far out the other side of the frame ? (which I assume it will), and, if so......
2) Since the P-01 slide stop has a longer actuating lever, will the longer P-01 slide stop's lever be just short enough to clear the front of the Tactical Sport safety I am planning to install on the left side of my SP Compact.......?
Inquiring minds have to know. I'm thinking my last two mods to my SP Compact will be a P-01 slide stop and a Tactical Sport left safety, if they fit properly and play well together.....
