Has anyone done a side to side with this and a P-01?

Good think I didn't pick up those two SIGs at the gun store the other day.

We went to the gun show this morning and that same dealer I bought my SP01 compact off of a few months still had some.

I bought another one.

Why?  I don't know.

Man, the trigger pull on this one is tough.  If it was DA only though it might be sweet.  It's easy to feel the stopping point in DA and get the sights lined up before the hammer releases.

Now, put it in the gun safe, or play with it (modify/carry/shoot it?)  We'll have to see about that.

You know, if I was still going to do the father/son project thing it'll probably turn out better with these two CZ 75 Compacts vs. the two SIG 239's.

That parts list is very interesting.  Expensive, but interesting.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I haven't done a direct comparison since I don't have one but I've heard bits and pieces to the point where I think I could answer about anything you'd want to know.... What a up?

The hammer hooks on these all seemed pretty rough to me... Did you get a fair price? I know you're problem. I got my second SP-01 Compact and thought I would put it in the safe but then I ended up working on it to hand it down to my daughter... Then my youngest sister got one and we're going to work on it together.

I'm just unsure about the weight of the SP-01 Compact. Now that I won the holster from the raffle, I'm really starting to look at carry guns. I keep flipping between the P10C, P07, P01, and this.

CZ Custom has a pic of one of these on a scale with no mag at 2 lbs 3.1 ounces or 35.1 ounces. The P-01 is 28.1 ounces. These are heavy and definitely not the carry pistol for everyone. A good belt and holster make it surprisingly comfortable and concealable since it is basically the same size as the P-01. I guess it all depends on your lifestyle and carry preferences. Lots of people carry single stacks and pocket guns. You could probably carry 2 sig p938's for the weight of this pistol... But then you wouldn't have this indestructible tank that has a wide frame like your S2 and eats recoil like nothing.

I guess realistically 7oz is nothing. I'm thinking about selling my 85C and getting one of these. I pretty much never touch the 85C now other than using it for my Kadet kit. Wish I could have picked up one of these when they were on sale for cheaper!!

Oh the lonely 85C... I would have gotten  a PCR but I didn't want a decocker. Either way, don't feel committed just from me. Most guys seem to have a compact and a subcompact for carry, but it's a pretty personal journey. KVAR posted on here a while back that he had them in stock. He has a decent price, few bucks cheaper than CZ Custom. He still has them listed in stock.

Just be warned, every one of these that I've worked on has a pretty gritty oem hammer (it's up in the hammer hooks). Like with your other CZ's you'll want one of the better hammers. They're taking well to all the upgrades, especially the CGW bushing. Got 4 of 4 shots in a USPSA target from 100 yards this weekend (standing 2 hand grip). The group wasn't great, my fault, so I didn't get a pic. But I got 1 3/4" from a wrist rest at 25 yards about a week ago.

Yea, I won't be home for another 4 months so there's still some time. I do want to try out the P10C, but I haven't seen one yet unfortunately. I don't think I can even hit a target at 50 yards so I'm not too worried about that :P I guess after seeing the gun for $525, I don't want to pay more for it haha.

Ahh yes, the awesome way you have to buy. Me neither but I do want to try them out. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it when you gets your hands on one. Yeah... It sucks how much more they are now.

I had the chance to try and shoot one in Texas when I was there, but I didn't have time to go to the shooting range :( I might be able to try one out when I go back for Thanksgiving, and then I can buy it and pick it up in December I suppose.

My ranges are getting the 509 and APX in, but no P10cs :( Hopefully soon.

Ok, so the SAO conversion went well. The TS safety went on without issue as well. Upgraded the firing pin retaining pin and trigger pin to CGW parts of course. The front sight did take some fitting (in fact, more than I am used to) but shoots POA/POI so I'm happy.

Here's the completed piggy:

Here's the crew from the range:

3 shot groups at 7 yards just to get a baseline of each gun in my hands.
1st, SP-01 since I've been shooting it the most:

2nd, SP-01 compact:

3rd, P-01:

Worth mentioning, I am much more accustomed to the SP-01 right now. The SP-01 compact is a joy to shoot SAO, and easy to shoot quickly due to the weight of the weapon and the SAO trigger. Either way it was a great day because everything functioned perfect and accuracy was on point. I will stretch out the distance in upcoming range days and get in some drill work.

Let me help you there :P Can you comment on carrying the P-01 vs SP-01 Comapct since you have both? Any difference in shooting?

Dragon,

Holy crap my photos are huge!!! I'll need to resize them before upload in the future.

I have carried both and don't really notice a difference. That being said, I am a guy that will also carry my SP-01 Tactical and not bat an eye, so I am not the best judge for people who may be bothered by the weight differences in firearms.

The SP-01 Compact definitely has less of a recoil pulse because of it's weight. The SAO is new for me. It doesn't have much take up (seems like half) of my P-01 in single action. I am adjusting to that difference. I stage the triggers on my P-01 and SP-01 Tactical, which I can't really do on this one yet so my shooting is slightly worse than with the others. That being said, double taps were faster and more accurate with the SAO SP-01 Compact. I attribute that to the short pull and short reset. The fiber optic front sight helps a lot with tracking.

I have one of these. It's marked cz75 compact and has the rail but it's all steel. I think from what I heard they didn't make a lot of these as most have the alloy frame. It's one of the smoothest shooting guns. Lot's of heft so absorbs recoil really well.
Seems like I may have kind of a rare bird as I have never seen these in their catalogs or online.
Anyone with more info would be greatly appreciated.
