Ahhh yeah! Another project pistol from M1A4ME

It's your fault (sort of).  At least your pistol put the idea in my head.

It won't be a copy of yours but it'll be "inspired" by yours.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

You're not the first person on this thread to blame me haha. I take it as a compliment... As long as you don't up and send yours to get hard chromed. That's  my dream for my CZ's and it pains my soul when I see others get their CZ's done so beautifully...

No plans to refinish the SP01 Compact.

But I have been thinking about the CZ 75 project Compact.  The one with the CZ 85 controls.  The plan is to round off the front of the trigger guard to make it more like a Pre B CZ 85.  Once I do that the frame has to be refinished.  The hard chrome, or even a satin nickel finish would be pretty sharp.  Yeah, then it wouldn't really look like a Pre B pistol.  The other idea I've wondered about is the new finish that Primary Machine is doing, the black looking finish (I can't remember the name right now but it's way tougher than cerakote or the polycote that came on the Compact.

I talked to Scott at CGW, my SP-01 compact is down there now, I'm going to get the frame, slide, barrel black nitrided, when those parts get back he'll call, but we've a few things penciled in, I'll have a stainless ring hammer, and a new sear installed, and since I have all the parts for a short reset kit already installed except the lifter arm, I'll have that done as well, then alittle polishing on the trigger bar where needed and that should do it..

Hi all, my first post on these forums.  Bought an SP-01 compact used a couple of weeks ago... by accident!  I was looking for either a PCR or P-01 for the lighter frame.  A CZ compact came up advertised locally but I looked at the photo and thought thats a P-01 not a cz compact!  I was running late and had to do the purchase quickly, the owner was telling me this is a new CZ on the market.. 'blah blah blah' is all I heard, because i knew this was a P-01, for some reason it felt heavy haha.  Got home, wow this is really is heavy... heavier than my 75B, why doesn't it have P-01 on the slide and why does it have a safety!  For a second I thought I was ripped off somehow until I saw this thread.

I'm bummed I still don't have a light pistol but excited its such a cool one.  Haven't got to shoot it yet and looking forward to see if its going to be a keeper :)

Haha that's funny stuff. Sorry you didn't get the alloy frame version you were looking for... It's a long thread with lots of good info buried in there. Let us know of you have any questions or need any help.

Thanks so much Scarlett!  I have already read a lot of this thread and a lot of your posts.  I'm very impressed with the work you have put into your videos as well on this pistol.  And from the look of it we both live in SLC :)

There is definitely a lot of info!

Just from dry firing I have realized the trigger is not as good as my stock 75B which I bought new.

Do you have any advice of what I would need to do just to get it to the same as a stock 75B?  Nothing special.

When I say its not as good, in single Action, when the trigger hits the wall, the trigger creeps until it breaks.  When comparing them side by side, I can see the hammer, move back a little before it breaks on the SP01 compared to the 75B.  Hope Im clear on that.

Ready for steel challenge:

Looks fantastic, very nice work!

If the way the safety hangs down and over the lip on the frame, it's an easy mod.

I used a blade to make a little mark on the edges of safety where the lip is. (don't use a blade if you don't have steady hands)

Then pull it out and use a ruler or something straight and line it up on the back of the safety with the two marks you made. Use a fine tip permanent marker and draw a line. This is the line marking where you want to remove material to. I.e. you remove material under that line.

Then use a file, belt sander, or sand paper on a flat surface and go to work. I rounded the back corner of mine... Just playing with looks, no real purpose.

Keep some grease on the surface so it doesn't rust. Or you can find a way to cost it if you have to tools... I'm in a dry climate so I check mine but it doesn't need as much attention.

I replaced the factory hammer with one of the CGW "race" hammers today.

This is a picture of the factory hammer/hooks.  The shiny area was around the hook area on both sides of the hammer.  Looked like it was "worked on" after it the surface finish was completed.  No idea why.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I've seen that on a few I worked on... But they weren't smooth SA triggers, so I have no idea what the deal is.

This one wasn't "smooth" either.  5.5 lbs. of draggy rough trigger movement to drop the hammer.

It's better now.
