And the SAO conversion is complete. Well waiting on loctite to dry before test firing.  Will probably trade grips out since the oranges clash.

Is that the standard safety? Looks a little different (more shelf/thumb area) than the super flat one. Could be the pic, but I figured I would ask.

It's the standard one. I ordered and tried to install the TS version but for some reason it wouldn't mate up to the right hand side. Something I did I'm sure but I was several hours deep into this thing already...

Which brings me to a big ol' shout out to Scarlett. Without his videos this never would have happened!!!

Did you check to see if the left side safety shaft would fit into the right side safety prior to installing them?  I had to stone down the flat on mine to get it to fit.  Better to do that first, before trying to install them in the gun.  Be careful when doing so, to insure the end up "level" side to side.

Even though mine fit outside the gun (after stoning) it was still kind of "tight" when trying to get the "D" shaped end on the shaft of the left side safety to pass into the right side safety.  An alignment issue.  That took care of itself after 3 or 4 installs and removals (while I was trouble shooting a no fire issue).

Good luck with it.  Sometimes working on your own can be aggravating but you learn from it and know the pistol better afterwards.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

M1A - I did check outside the gun after the first try and yep, they wouldn't mate up. I'll probably go back at some point and fit them but by this point I was just ready to get this thing going.

50 rounds and man it was fun shooting. I did have a few light strikes so I may have to go to a 11# spring. I'll give it a few more rounds before doing so though.

Super glad the videos helped and it turned out well. I like the new slide release you put on there. And... That trigger is sweet! What one is it? Not to mention the awesome pull weight. What goods did you end up installing to get that down to 2lbs? And what work did you do?
Here's a thread abut the Tactical Sport safety in these pistols. On the second or third page there is a video explaining how to fit the safety, it's pretty easy and quick.

And I meant to add a thanks to M1A4ME in chiming in. He's ran into his fair share of little poop storms when doing smithing on CZ's. He has always been  willing to post for help, take suggestions, and share what he finds works. The forum is full of members like him, so that is to all of you as well. There's no reason, but kindness, ya'll get on here and share so much knowledge, and it's helped me beyond measure. I am still learning constantly from members like M1A4ME!

Scarlett - The trigger is from Armory Craft. Would have liked a straight one but he didn't have those in stock and I didn't feel like waiting until they were. Other than that it's an 8.5# hammer spring, extended firing pin, adjustable sear, and spacer to eliminate the FPB. The slide release is the SP-01 version. I took all the internals to a guy at work who polished everything up for me (he's a machinist by trade/training and a gun nut to boot )

Thanks for the link to the safety adjustment. I'll be doing that one for sure.

You're  welcome! I hadn't heard of the shop and looked them up... They have a red flat trigger to match my red grips!!! God bless you!

Scarlett or possibly someone else, please enlighten me.

If these frames are basically a railed standard compact, shouldn't we be able to fit the standard compact safety? (I'm probably totally off base, but it won't be the first time :)) I just can not wrap my head around the "tactical" one, even if it has been rounded off.

There has to be a better way to build this mousetrap.

I have not measured the frames myself but I read here that the frame on these steel framed "SP01" Compacts is wider than a CZ 75 Compact frame.

I do know I ordered the Tactical Sport safeties for mine and they were exactly the right width.

No problem. So these have a wider frame, like the P-01. This requires a few aspects of the safety bar to be shifted right to compensate. You could use a standard safety but more points would have to be fitted. A member did this (mostly by misunderstanding and then he had the smarts on how to figure it out) but I didn't bookmark the thread.

Here's a thread (all pages) that has info on what's going on. It should have a good explanation.

Are you just wanting the look of the classic safety? Or you want a total understanding of what is happening mechanically? I can post a little video showing the differences in the frames and how that changes things if that would help.

Way too expensive, and I don't want an SAO.

The video would be cool.

So, please bear with me for another minute....... are these frames unique in size and thickness, or is it actually the same width as the SP-01 only in compact size? And to that point, if it is the same as the SP-01, is the safety the same on that pistol? (I don't have one nor have held one).

Oh, and to answer your question SP, I do want an understanding of the mechanics, but yes, I also just want a pistol with a "normal" factory safety.
