Red dot mount
« on: November 14, 2016, 03:31:15 PM »
I want to put a Vortex Venom on my Tactical Sport.
I would like to mount it in the dovetail. Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Mark

The multi cut mount/slide racker will work.  It uses the same holes as the
Burris
I got the steel version but, they also make it in aluminum.  It drifts in and out nicely if you want to switch back to iron.

We do a mounting plate and the slide racker mount for the TS dovetail.

There's a couple of mounts that attach to the rail at the bottom of the frame...if you have a model that has that.
The guys at "Neumount" seem pretty nice.  Hoping to get my copy by the new year.  It will mount most all of the small red dot sights.

I have a dovetail mount on my P-01 that I'm not overly happy with.  It is not as tight a fit as it should be.  It came from the CZ guys in the midwest.  I'll give it a fair shot, but will have the Neumount waiting.  I'll be using the Leupold Delta Pro on my CZ.

I also have the Leupold style dovetail mount for the Leupold Delta Pro.  It seems ok, very light which is good.  If you can get past the fact that part of it is plastic, it looks like it will hold up well.  I just put one on my older Glock 21.

If you end up with a dovetail type mount, just be sure it fits at least snugly into the dovetail...before...you tighten the set screws.

Does that type of mount not destroy the red dot? With the clacking back and forth of the slide it doesn't seem llto me like it would be good for it?

Does the dove tail mount not mess up the red dot sights over time?

No, the dove tail mount, in itself has nothing to do with any possible damage to the sight, as long as the two mounting's are compatible.
If you are referring to the pounding it takes as the slide moves in ad out of battery...  These sights are actually pretty simple, despite many of the prices.  Like Sig Sauer...some even make their own Red Dot sight to mount on their own guns.  Some claim that they will withstand 1000G's.

I current have one on my P-01, my Model 21 Glock and will be buying a Sig for my P-220.

Yep! I was referring to them banging around on the slide! Interesting!! I wouldn't have thought they would last on there very long. Thanks for the reply!

I have used my vortex venom on numerous pistols. My TS (.40), a p226 (9mm), a Stock 3 Elite (45 acp).  I have had zero issues with the optic and zero issues with the various mounts that I have used.  The optics are very tough, I think that CZC custom mount is really nice because it gives you a slide racker as well. It is a little more expensive than some other options but it is really worth it in my opinion.  Plus remember that even in the rare event that something did cause your optic to be damaged Vortex has the best warranty in the game and they will replace the optic.
