Straight SA trigger for Czechmate
« on: December 06, 2016, 07:38:15 PM »
I was about to place an order for the SA straight trigger from CZ Custom to replace the SA tactical one in my Czechmate. I was told NOT to, as people that put them on apparently take them right back off again as they don't like them. Is this the consensus on this trigger? Does anyone have this trigger installed, and if they do, how do you like it? I know that straight triggers are very popular with 2011's, but why are they so bad for the CZ? Please feel free to comment as I really want one, but would like input from those that actually have one on their guns. Thanks

I don't know nor care what everyone else feel about them.  I like the one I put on mine.

I can't attest to the TS, but I have on on a Shadow and I love mine.

Sorry, it's been years so I don't really remember the factory trigger on the TS.  I did have to thin the SA trigger to fit properly in the TS.  It was a little thick and would bind on the frame.

It's my favorite trigger in SAO guns.

I have the straight aluminum SA trigger on my TS and it is a much better trigger in my opinion.  I found when I used the factory trigger in matches it seems like there was some flex to the trigger. I believe it was because of the tighter grip and trigger pull that comes with the rapid style of shooting.  Even if this was only a matter of perception once I installed the flat trigger it went away.  It took a couple of dry fire sessions along with some trips to the range to develop the muscle memory needed to put my finger in the same spot on the trigger every time since there is no nub on the bottom of the flat trigger to aid in finger placement.  I would never go back at this point and now have a flat trigger going in my CZ 97 that I converted to SAO.

Well, I have placed the order and expect it to come in shortly. I just hope that I won't have any regrets, as the stock trigger on my Czechmate weighs in at 1 1/4 lb, very nice, but I am not too sure if I like that nub in the bottom which was why I wanted to look into this. I guess that I will now find out......

Very interested to find out what your thoughts are. Let us know when you get it installed.

Apparently, there are two types of 'straight' triggers. One that CZ Custom makes, and the one that CZ makes. The difference between the two is that the one from CZ Custom has a 'flat' base for the finger pad, whereas the CZ one has a slightly rounded serrated base for the finger pad. The one that I am hearing is not liked is the one with the 'flat' base from CZ custom. I personally think that this is the way to go as with a flat base, the trigger pull is straight back. However, apparently, people have a rough time getting used to this, especially those with larger hands. Do you have the flat base or the slightly rounded?

I have the flat one from CZC and I love it. My 75 Shadow came with the curved bottom trigger and I didn't care for it much. The reason I would choose the CZC trigger over the CZ stock SAO trigger is because of the pre and post travel adjustments that can be made to the one from CZC.

An easy way to tell which you have is that the CZ Custom is straight at the bottom, whereas the the one from CZ is rounded at the bottom and serrated. As you can see, they are both SOA, and they both have adjustments for pre and over travel. To show you the differences:

It is a tough decision which way to go as the CZ Custom seems to be the most beneficial, however, apparently people have a rough time adjusting to the flatness.

Only you can decide ... I can't comment on the trigger as I've never shot one, but to put it into perspective, between the five guys I shoot 1911s with you will find similarities in set ups but you won't find a consensus on triggers, grips or sights, there will always be one or even 2 outliers who like a different feel and sight picture. The same will apply to any gun no matter what it is.
