Anyone have to file the notch on their CGW bushing?
« on: December 09, 2016, 08:44:10 AM »
At first I thought it was me just not getting the notch lined up right. Then I realized the notch on the bushing wasn't far back enough to line up with the pin hole.  after a little filing it will work but I managed to destroy the roll pin hopefully I can find a pin that will work at the hardware store

No one? Guess I should have asked before I modified the bushing. Hopefully I didn't do anything stupid .I used a 5/64x3/8 tension pin  te replace the roll pin . I think the tension pin looks better than the roll pin and it fit nice and snug. Hope I didn't bubba it up to bad

Cbass,

It's quite possible your particular CZ required some minor fitting where the retaining pin rides.  There are some dimensional variations on firearms inherent in all designs.  We designed our bushing so when the pin is installed, it would seat the bushing into the slide tight so it could never have a less than perfect fit.

Sounds like you did the right thing.

I've done 4--just one of them took a lot of work, the other three went straight through without fitting

This is a 2015 BD.  I really didn't have to remove much just took a few minutes. Everything else is perfect. Barrel locks up nice and tight  takes a little wiggling to get the barrel in and out the slide.  I can't hit a beer can from 5yds so hopefully the new bushing will fix that   ;)

All I do is run the properly sized drill bit through the hole and you are done. CZ Custom sells the drill bits to drill the front sights. One pass with the bit and everything goes right together perfectly. It takes less than 5 minutes. You just have to be careful not to break the tiny drill bit.

How many beer cans did you have lined up?  Were they empty?  If they were empty were they recently full?  If they were, you do have a LARGE backstop - right?!?!   O0

As mentioned above, I've also found that running the drill bit through each time makes everything go smoothly. Ace Hardware usually stocks #47 wire drill bits and I keep a couple in my box.

The very first one I installed looked ok to the eye but I wound up mushrooming the front sight pin when it got held up by something.  After drilling through the hole the pin went in just like it should.  When I installed my second one I just went ahead and drilled it out to keep from wasting another pin.

I used a 5/64x3/8 tension pin to replace the roll pin.

Same here, getting a #47 today for the bushing on my "SP-01 Compact". Where did you get the tension pin, Fastenal or elsewhere?
