New P09
« on: December 18, 2016, 01:15:09 PM »
Just got my 2nd CZ, a p09. This will be a general range, HD, and production gun. I'll stay with the decocker mode. First will be a couple more hi caps then a couple of 10 round made for matches. Next will be change the sights to fiber optic.
After that will be working on the trigger. It appears the pro upgrade is not legal for production, what are my other options? The short reset and spring set?

Shoot it a few times first.  The trigger may be pretty good.  I think CGW can fix you up with a production legal hammer is the pull is rough or too heavy for you.  You can definitely go with the internal parts if you feel the need.  I would suggest just a call to CGW and tell them what you want to use the gun for and they can fix you up.  I've replaced the hamme in my three P series pistols, but I don't run them in production.  I didn't think I would like the plastic guns but I do.

I have a CZ75 SA from the custom shop with comp hammer, trigger, polished internals , all the bells and whistles. I'll like the p09, but I can see a little work on the trigger will be needed. I just want a little smoother and lighter double action.

Improving the DA with the stock hammer is easy--lighter hammer spring and some polishing.  I think.

I have 2 P-09's, a .40 cal that is bone stock except for the hammer spring, I switched that out to an 11.5 lb spring, Ive polished up the internals a little and did the slight bend of the trigger bar spring, and then shot the snot out of it.  It is extremely smooth, DA trigger pull is very light, I dont have a gauge but I would imagine its about 5 lbs max.  Single action is light, but a little mushy with the stock hammer.  It pops all primers with no problem.

I also have a 9mm that has the cajun race hammer, a 13lb hammer spring (it would not work with the 11.5), and lightly polished internals.  I tried the short reset kit and oversized roller but saw no improvement with either over the stock parts.  There is a very noticeable difference between the two SA trigger breaks, the cajun hammer is much more crisp.

Otherwise, the two triggers are very smooth and plenty light in DA.  I would definitely polish it up and shoot it a lot.  Unless the production legal hammer can get the break as crisp as the race hammer I dont see a reason to change it.

dave33, I plan to fire my P-09 9mm in stock status (with less than 300 miles (rounds) on it).  I can fire a 1911 .45ACP with about a 3 pound trigger and or a benchrest rifle with a nominal 2 ounce trigger (Jewel (sp?) not the original Rem 2 ounce trigger.  My P-09 will not be in any race soon that I know off.  Regardless of P-09 trigger power (not measured yet), its accuracy surprised me.
