Guys that have taken out the trigger on their P07/P09s, is this required?

Would recommend using the method Joe L describes. It's been a while since I've had my CZ apart, but I did not deviate from these instructions.

If you don't use the slave pin in the trigger, you stand a chance of launching the trigger return spring while trying to install it.  You can try it.  I have launched a few and found fewer. 

To be honest, I used a slave pin on the 75 series pistols and just carried that practice through to the P series pistols and that is why it is this way in the video.  Knock yourself out if you want to try it without the slave pin.  I'd wear eye protection and have a spare in hand before doing so, however.  Just don't knick the spring with a pair of pliers or it will fail sooner than without a knick.

Ok, just ordered a "75 hammer pin" for $10 shipped to use to hold the trigger spring. 

Hope it's worth $10

Dont know how else to do it but I just went with the center portion of a wooden toothpick cut to size. It worked fine

And, thanks to this video, and that statement, I successfully used this video to guide me through polishing some internals, and I used a Q-tip for this part.

I have a couple of pieces of cut toothpick sitting on my bench they work well. Follow what he says in the video you can't go wrong, I'm no gunsmith and was able to take the gun apart and put it back together by these videos.

I'm worried about wasting any money. 

That's in no way money wasted. After over 30 years in the automotive field I can attest to the necessity of having the right tool for the job. Put the pin pin in a baggie and save it with your other tools and you will have it anytime you need it without the worry of "making " something work.

Then again I had a boss that used to say ,hey, anybody can do the job with the right tool. LOL

Believe me, you will use that hammer pin on a hammer strut or a disconnector someday.  Not wasted at all.  Have a good time working on your pistol.  It's all good.
