Compact Poly Witness .45s at CDNN

They're selling them with the blued slide, extended safety & mag release, competition hammer & trigger for $249.99.  

I have a steel, Wonder finish .45 and used to love it, but since my experiment with the Sprinco recoil reducer it's been very unreliable.  

Anyone have experience with these guns?

Are you still using the Sprinco unit?  Is your WF .45 Witness reliable without the Sprinco unit installed?  You might just consider using a straight 16 lb. Wolff recoil spring, rather than the Sprinco unit.

+1 on the 16lb. Wolff spring. I also polished the factory guide rod. Originally did it because it was ugly, but found the cycling feels smoother with the polished rod.

Well, we've wandered off the subject, but....

The Sprinco unit is gone along with the one I bought for my Super Witness.  Both of them made the slide so stiff that it was nearly impossible to lock it back by hand and totally impossible to release with the slide-lock lever.  The Sprinco units were so stiff that they battered the slide-lock levers to the point where they had to be replaced.  

When I went back to Wolff springs the Super was fine, but the .45 has never been reliable.  I replaced the mag springs, too.  Better, but not good enough that I'd trust it for carry.

Sprinco has an excellent warranty and will honor it.  Good people to deal with.  

Anyhow,  does anyone have experience with the compact poly .45 Witness?

Not any experience yet, but if you are a little apprehensive you can send me one and I'll post a full range report along with photos.  Don't thank me yet.  It is quite a time commitment, but I am here to make this a better forum anyway I can.

It's good work if you can get it though. :lol

Actually, the general consensus has been that the Compact Poly .45's have been reliable, but the Poly Framed Witnesses have had heavier and grittier trigger pulls than the Full Steel Framed Witnesses, out of the box.  I'm considering taking the Plunge for a .45 P-Carry.

My smith sure fixed the trigger on my 10mm P-Carry.  Obviously they can have better triggers than they ship with.

I've done trigger jobs on 6 or 7 steel Witnesses.  Not hard after you see where the trouble spots are.  

One thing I did on all of them was replace the hated roll pins with drill rod.  Adding a trigger stop also improves things.
