Shadow barrel life
« on: March 10, 2017, 11:25:31 PM »
Hey Guys,
I am a newbie to CZ's and I have a stupid question.  What would you guess the barrel life of a Shadow shooting minor power factor loads?  How many rounds are the barrels good for?

Search is your friend...a previous thread was specifically for the Shadow:

While searching I found an interesting article that went through the trouble to calculate barrel life.  It only counts the amount of time while firing (typically 0.002 sec) and found that most barrels last 3 to 10 seconds (cumulative firing time).

I would imagine that it depends on the bullets used - plated vs lead, with lead leading to longer barrel life.
Musashi:
- In all forms of strategy, it is necessary to maintain the combat stance in everyday life and to make your everyday stance your combat stance. (situational awareness).
- You can only fight the way you practice.
- If you do not control the enemy, the enemy will control you.

I have to agree with Grendel.
My 75B's smaller diameter bbl shot over 60k rds and was still shooting trouble free. The bore-feed ramp  looked like new.  Ammo was 90% jacketed and some thick plated BRY bullets for the rest.  Loaded 128-132 PF.

We have a P-01 Omega in the shop and the customer claims 140,000 rounds.  I have never seen the super strong Omega sear wear out, but this pistol definitely had a worn out sear.

Otherwise, it still has lots of life left, the barrel in this one could easily surpass 200,000 rounds.

If you can afford the ammo to wear out a CZ or HK barrel you can afford a new gun.  And a new car to carry it around town.

My Shadow with 3000 rounds is more accurate with .355 bullets than my other Shadow with 25000 rounds.    I think the old one has degraded.  With .356 bullets, I can't tell a difference.    How do you define worn out?
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.
