Mag question
« on: March 13, 2017, 05:55:42 PM »
I have a 40 magazine question if anyone can help me out.  I just got a C100 in 40 and it came with MG mags marked for both 9mm and 40.  has anyone with a 40 run 9mm mags in there's?  I know the C100 may be slightly different, and when it comes to guns, they could vary, but if 9mm and 40 mags are pretty much the same thing, in the case of 75 and their clones, then it would be good to know that.

Since so many of you own both 9 and 40 versions, has anyone used their 9mm mags in their 40 to see if it works?

As for Glocks, the answer is no.  I managed to get a 40 round into a 9mm Glock mag, but I had to disassemble the mag to get the round out as the feed lips are very specific with that brand.

ummm....   yes....

I don't try to make a habit of it.  Occasionally I'll only grab 9mm mags for a range trip (fortunately not the other way around).

All my factory CZ 9mm mags have worked in my .40's.  They just hold fewer rounds...

Thank you.  I wonder if there is any difference other than markings between the mags?  Do you have an opinion on this?  Are there visible differences or ones that can be measured?  If they were the same mags, as MG does for Tristar, it would simplify things for sure.  I don't have access to any CZ-type 9mm mags.

The .40 mags won't hold 9's, the feed lips are too far apart.  There may ultimately be a reliability issue using 9mm mags for .40's in the long run, though I did not notice any increased wear.

OP, are you talking about the CZ 100, or the C100? I've a CZ 100 in 9mm and .40, and can confirm that 9mm rounds won't stay in a .40 mag, but I can squeeze 10 .40's into the 13-rd 9mm mag. However, I don't wanna even experiment with that during live fire, as I love my CZ 100's too much to risk any possible damage by using ammo in a mag it wasn't designed for.

Here's a few pics of a couple of my mags, and with exception of the first shot, the 13-rd 9mm is on the left, the 10-rd .40 on the right.
