Does anybody carry a P-09
« on: April 07, 2017, 07:45:36 PM »
Just wondered how many of you carry a P-09 for self-defense ?
If so what holster ?
I carry P07  gen2 and have an Alien Gear 3.0 for over a year now, been trying to get the angle and cant right for a perfect draw from the holster.. because the part of the holster that is between my body and the beavertail  seems to get in the way of my thumb when trying to get a high grip under the beaver tail.

I carry my P09 most days appendix.  I have a bravo concealment Acer, but it's called the DOS now, I think.  Love it.  I cannot use the extended magazine because it prints way too much, but it carries great.  I have red rubs on my belly at the end of the day, but not too bad.  I am large framed and find that, though I love my P07, I am better with the 09 and prefer to shoot it.  If I need to be more concealed I will trade out for the 07.

Yeah I've been carrying mine almost exclusively when I'm going to be out at night with a light mounted in an IWB Hybrid holster at the 2:30-3:30 position and very comfortable. I shoot that gun almost as good as my 1911's but right there with my Sig P226 Legion. Very accurate pistol and so smooth cycling and quick on the reset. Love it!

I alternate between the P-07 and P-09, partly depending on how long I'm going to be sitting. I carry AIWB and use a Harry's Holster and with the claw and the foam wedge the 09 doesn't print any more than the 07 does which is none really. The only complaint is he only makes a P-07 model I believe, and although it's open muzzled and will work with the 09 the rails on the 09 that stick past the end of the holster are sharp on the edges.

Other than that I love the holster, I have been contemplating getting a low profile rail cover to try on the last 2 or 3 rails and see how that works.

I don't know, maybe it's years and years of carrying long and heavy pistols. I carried a Para-Ordnance double stack 5" with two extra mags for quite a while IWB. Maybe that helped make the P-09 and two extra mags with + 2 pads feel pretty decent. As I've stated before I think it's kind of a mind set thing, that and a very good belt and holster. I also don't believe my style or preference is the solution for everybody.

If it's cool enough and I wear a sport coat or outer garment, yes, OWB. Use it for IDPA. Something happened to my midriff area that precludes me from comfortably carrying IWB for that pistol. SOB for IWB.

Gentlemen, clean it up, family board.
Yes, I carry my P-09, OWB in a High Noon Slide Guard holster with covering garment, or IWB with a High Noon Close Encounter kydex rig, both on a High Noon Rock Steady gunbelt.  This combo has worked pretty well for me over the years. I find that since I really don't care what I look like, the fat guy huge t-shirts cover the pistol and double spare mag pouch pretty well as long as I remember not to bend over. Always bend with the knees, for back safety! :) I alos carry my SP-01 Phantom the same way, with a High Noon, ( yes, they make excellent stuff!), Down Under with straps IWB rig, and it will also disappear with a little self awareness.

All about the the belt[emoji12], most days it a 1.75 leather strap from bullhide belts "impressive as far as belts go". I see countless guys blame their holsters and buy lots of them, all the while using an old navy belt[emoji848]

Alien Gear gun belt. I've had it now for about 14 months , wear it all the time .. spring stainless steel in the middle of it does not sag.
