I have a CZ 83 with about 700 rounds through it, that has developed a strange issue.
It has recently started experiencing hammer drop, where the hammer will follow the slide forward on firing. At first I couldn't duplicate it without actually firing a round; everything looks and feels perfect when dry firing after a thorough cleaning. The sear engages the hammer firmly, pins look good, etc.
After repeatedly dry firing it in various positions, both with and without a magazine inserted, it finally happened. After a little more experimenting, I discovered that if I push on the ejector lightly while cocking the hammer, I can cause the issue every time... otherwise it works as it should. Even knowing this, I still can't figure out what is causing the sear to not lock up the hammer. The sear spring seems to be ok, the disconnector moves up/down, the sear/hammer interface is solid (when it locks up properly), and so on. It appears to be a very minor tolerancing flaw somewhere, but I'll be bleeped if I can find it.
Any ideas what could be causing it? I think I'm going to order a few of the most likely culprits (sear, sear spring, disconnector, pins, etc.) from CZ USA and replace them all at once, but would like to hear from someone that has experienced this exact issue.
